    Cragganmore is a hidden gem, with a complex malt. This old bottling by Malts of Scotland demonstrates this. Not even 12 years old, and very full and complex.
    It has some punch of the alcohol, a bit of acidity, some warming spice, but overall a very friendly and syrupy texture.
    • Nose
      Inhale... it's a balm for the soul. It's actually quite complex and there is a lot to discover. Buttered toast, honey, sweet plum (or plum sauce), red apple, cinnamon and toasted oak. A whisky like this needs clear assessment and time to nose.
    • Taste
      Delicous, a good balance between the heat of the alcohol, the sweet punch, some acidity and a spicy kick. Slightly earthy, but overall very friendly with similar notes as on the nose. The honey may be more prominent, just as the plum sauce, or should I say syrup? Some banana and mango too. Just a bit of mint before a mild dash of pepper pops up.
    • Finish
      Long, leaving a warming note of spice, Dutch ginger bread (ontbijtkoek), some acidity which makes the taste coming back, and various syrups (orange, plum, even cherry).

    We would like a little more. It's not badly done and it's easy to enjoy home stays a little on your hunger
    • Nose
      Mainly fruits of all kinds: mirabelle, apple, citrus, but it is really little intense. A side pie pie cooked also. Nice but we would like the fruit to express a little more sustained.
    • Taste
      More punchy than the nose foresaw. Dry, woody and spicy. Vanilla and varnish too.
    • Finish
      Moderately long. Dry, clove and turn off on the heather honey.

    A full-bodied and generous malt, with a slightly drying mouth. It was time to bottle this one!

    Tasted blind for whisky-distilleries.info WDTS:

    • Nose
      Cooked fruits strike first. Baked prunes. And hot butter. Plum crisp. Kouign Amann (check Google if you've never heard about this one). Mouth-watering. The cask brought quite some spices but they are softly mixed with a high end subtly fruity distillate, not unlike some early 70's Glen Grants. Very musky. Polished furniture. And some marron glacé? Really complex!
    • Taste
      We still have this nice balance between fruit and wood, but this time wood is the winner. Starts on blood orange, quickly catched up by dry fruits (roasted almonds) and a touch of orange blossom water. The alcohol remains quite discreet though we probably reach 55%.
    • Finish
      Long, on crystalized oranges and a slightly drying spiciness.

    Reminds in the nose very good Bourbon. Lots of malt, caramel, some citrus (orange) and vanilla.
    Does a lot of water, but is also quite good drinkable.
    Taste: Not very fruity, more vanilla, pear, orange, some smoke and lots of malt.
    Medium length Abang, oily mouthfeel.

    Nose of caramel, a bit of vanilla and that damned banana.
    Hint of coconut and something salty. The whisky is thick and the taste contains a bit of acid and a bit of peat / wood and a spicy touch.

    T: oily, sourish candy, orange lemonade and gooseberries

    nose: banana, after a while chipolata, wood smoke taste: full bourbon, raisins, slightly dry, after a while pretty bitter overall: the best Cragganmore I have tasted to date and the surprise of the evening (very good value for money). This whisky reminds me of the Glen Moray Mountain Oak 88p

    This is a great surprise...A combination of candied fruit with smoky wood influences, which come back in the taste also.

    Very nice whisky!
    • Nose
      Toffee, honey, polish, sweet citrus.
    • Taste
      Raisins, toffee again, rich, complex but also gentle, sweet.
    • Finish
      Long and quite sweet, a touch of vanilla.

    • Nose
      Nose: pastry pie style with apricot with cream pastry, a little plant, spices (anise and cumin)
    • Taste
      Palate: Oily. Attack in the mouth astringent; the aromas are part of the continuity of the nose with a little touch acidic kind chemical candy.
    • Finish
      Finale: long finish on aniseed alcohol, pastry flavors and a fermented side (beer).

    Wonderful Cragganmore, but suffers from hydrophobia. Have it neat.
    • Nose
      The nose is warm and fruity: grapefruit and Granny Smith appels. Cake, white chocolate and some pot pourri of roses. <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Oranges and roasted nuts. Fresly cut grass and a whiff of smoke. Sweet and inviting. Adding water makes it a little cheesy.
    • Taste
      He is oily and sweet, but with a kick in the teeth, because of the high ABV. Hot, even, but at the same time heart warmingK. Again very fruity with more oranges, woodspice and licquorice. A slight metallic taste that surprises somewhat. Very palatable without water, but I added some. Mistake. Flavours are flattened out and the dram looses punch.
    • Finish
      The finish is reasonably long on oranges and pepper. Bittersweet death.
