for a 38-year-old bunny, it’s probably rather weak. but for whisky reduced to 46% - very, very worthy. The profile is one-piece, the bunna is recognizable, there is not enough depth to rate more

A beautiful complex composition, deep, rich, super-attractive, hard to tear off, and then - amazingly flat and primitive taste - oak, lacquer, everything, arrived, finish on this background generally disappears, eventually opening slightly, but alas, after the fragrance of everything it seems so dull, in development slightly improves, overdone slightly, the oak is redundant, and tired somehow, can water help? The water is clearly impoverished and flattening the aroma, the taste becomes slightly watery, nothing new is shown, so past.
    • Nose
Open, moist, spicy wood, herbal mix, resin, solvent, vitamins Revit, furniture varnish, leaves, light sulfurous-rotten shades, overripe tropical fruits, bananas, mango, light maroon tones, wet cardboard.
    • Taste
Powerful, rich, oak, malt notes, furniture varnish, a little red pepper, bark, something sweet in the development of piercing, ginger candied fruits, orange peel, cocoa.
    • Finish
Spicy, warming, oak, furniture varnish, a little ginger, resin, orange peel, cappuccino, nuts.

Bunnahabain 38 yo 1972/2011 (46%, Silver Seal, Sestante Collection)  Colour: gold. Nose: this time we’re more on polished wood at first nosing, with the honey underneath and some fresh and lively coastal whiffs surrounding the whole. Also beautiful floral notes, more towards dandelions and buttercups, a little fudge and then delicate hints of tropical fruits, mainly papayas. Plus touches of vanillin. Mouth: perfect! A fruit salad with a little olive oil, fresh oranges, tangerines, almond oil and then a little pepper. Quality’s very high here. Finish: medium long, with the oak coming out (pepper and green tea) but everything’s under control. Comments: they invented the word ‘lovely’ for this but warning, it’s another very, very drinkable whisky. Lock your whisky cabinets! SGP:551 - 91 points.

This is an excellent old Bunna from Silver Seal, it is so smooth. This is close to being perfect for me and reinforces how good some of the Silver Seal bottlings are.
    • Nose
      Notes from January 2015.
A little peat, honey, fudge, butter, lemon zest

    • Taste
Very smooth & delicate, peat to the front, syrupy sweetness, alittle toffe, ham, buttery with hints of smoke.
    • Finish
Medium length with hints of coffee at the end.

This is a very enjoyable Bunna. It's full and fruity, has a great nose and a enormous mouth feel. It's still very well balanced despite it's long journey in oak.

Tasted a glass from Jurgen at the WFNN 2015.

The first Bunna from my year of birth. Spicy and fruity. Not a bad one!
    • Nose
Starts of with restrained soft polished oak and some tropical fruit. It's all quite fresh. Flowery and heathery notes as well. Herbal notes of camphor. Even a whiff of smoke. This nose needs time to develop.
    • Taste
Punchy and spicy. White pepper and nutmeg. Followed by oranges and tangerines. Some peach and lychee. Honey and vanilla. Very sappy.
    • Finish
Medium long. Bitter-sweetness. Cinnamon. Well balanced.

    Tasting Notes by WEISER:

Aroma: Beautiful oak is the first impression. Freshly polished parquet. After a basket of ripe fruit, gooseberries, oranges, pineapples, papayas and their fresh juices. These soft earth and moss. All this on a sweet layer of creamy honey. And even a tiny bit of smoke. Lovely.
Taste: Perfect balance between sweet and dry. Sweet fruits such as oranges, pineapples, dates and figs, and honey to. Then dry with herbs such as chamomile becoming, plus spices like nutmeg, pepper and licorice. The oak is downright juicy.
Finish: Long with notes of oak and are pushing more and more into the foreground, honey on the second place.
Overall: Great flavors, almost sublime, and a very good taste.
