Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 2003 Wk

- Definitely sherry, which is what I like, but somehow not quite hit me.
Definitely sherry barrel, but different than I'm used to. Prunes and raisins dominate, but the flavors are less intense than in the case of Oloroso barrels. With time you can feel the fruit cake, biscuits, jelly, lichi.
Very sweet and fruity, a lot of honey, vanilla, sherry, dark chocolate.
Sweet, longer than I expected, but still overwhelms the power of alcohol. A few drops of water mandatory.
- Open bottle oxidization: gains a lot more balance, still very unusual for a Glendronach for me, but less torn apart than before, and there is a lot of menthol & sweet licorice now.

quite aggressive/prickly, chocolate syrup, woody, some dust w mineral qualities, squashed raisins, meaty, rubber, (83)
a bit later: Tokyo - reminds me of smells I had on the last stay - an air refreshener/cleaner smell that was omnipresent, some rice cakes/mochi, concrete & yasmin/green teas. Funny/unusual for a Glendronach. (86)
some funny dispairity going on here as well. On one side water-y, perfumed, rice cakes/mochi (also melon buns now and some trurkish delight/rosewater) with somewhat flowery notes; on the other, w thick chocolate syrup, leather & dark wood, somehow walking hand in hand. (82)
wood, leather & chocolate seem to come out victorious, although it still remains somewhat watery thin and the wood develops a bit of a dry aspect as well. Perfume-y note remains throughout and becomes a tad annoying/overly-present for me, also some metallic notes at the very end (78)
