Whisky Reviews for Dufftown 1972 BR

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 81.00 points

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

I like these old green bottles of Berry's, in particular if they are from my birth year. The whisky also tastes 'greenish' but as Ruben already has written, is not very spectacular though.
    • Nose
Lots of maltiness of cereal and barley. Biscuits. Some leafy and flowery notes. Also hops and horlicks. Camphor and aniseed. Fresh mint tea. Whiff of smoke at the background.
    • Taste
Quite yeasty and beer-like (again verry hoppy). Resinous. Later on more on bitter chocolate and coffee-grounds. Granny Smith apples. Citrus fruit notes of lemon and lime as well. Hints of sandalwood.
    • Finish
Medium long and dry with grapefruit bitterness. Liquorice. Pine and spearmint at the end.

  2. Georges scored this whisky 79 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Porridge, sweet, heather, honey, mineral notes
    • Taste
Oaky, waxy, earthy, grainy, tobacco, fruity (apples, oranges)
    • Finish
      Medium long, oaky, spicy (ginger)

  3. WhiskyNotes scored this whisky 81 points Expert Senior

Sometimes people say that even the most mediocre blender's whisky gets interesting as long as it's aged properly. This one is certainly not bad but not a high-flyer either.
    • Nose
Starts mashy and porridgy, with some wet dogs. Over time it develops a soft sweetness of heather honey and buttercups. A few vegetal notes (celery) and apples. Not very interesting, with its malty character it's easy to see what the majority of casks was used for.
    • Taste
Rather dry, with some oak, wax and earthy notes. Plenty of grainy notes with hints of (sourish) tobacco. Apples again, as well as oranges. Hints of tea.
    • Finish
Medium long, with some ginger and oak juice.
