Whisky Reviews for Caperdonich 1977 CA

Seriously this one just bugs me, I'm a bit lost at words. There's a whole lot of things coming out but I can't seem to name them. Definitely something different from anything I've had before, but I can't say it totally won me over. The sherrry influence, especially, while it seems obvious to others, wasn't at all to me.
    • Nose
Candied orange, hand cream, a lot of beeswax ... I guess ? This is rather peculiar, I think I'm losing my marks here. This doesn't smell like anything usual. Old cheese rind. Very exuberant but very disarming. Decaying bananas.
    • Taste
Very powerful, almost too much. This has ginger, jackfruit, something between pomelo and nutmeg, very hard to describe once again. Nice texture. Bergamot and a lot of ginger beer actually.
    • Finish
Soft spices aplenty, Dr Pepper, ginger.

Always nice to have a Sherry Caperdonich in the glass! At first a bit reserved in the nose, flavors then very present. Very tasty and strong in the mouth. Departure sweet and warm. Class Malt, but no longer cheap today ...

Since I rate whiskys completely independent of how much of their distillery is left, he gets so many points, otherwise it would have been quite 89 since there is virtually nothing left of Caper, but he is a force.
    • Nose
Pure coffee aromas, the fresh beans just harvested, which still have beautiful fruit notes with berries and cherry in the background, licorice, lovage, clove, some Maggi thereby also, darkest caramel and dark chocolate, Caperdonich aufwessehen: ')
    • Taste
Perfect sherry cask, super strong bitter orange, dates, figs, nice baked apple and espresso, clove, nutmeg, wild garlic and some caraway, a hint of black pepper, lovage, dark malt and round oak
    • Finish
The taste is retained as in the previous part, is only a little drier, the malt takes over more with the oak, a few raisins and coffee beans still, long
