Whisky Reviews for Aberfeldy 1974 GM

N: Nutty, yeasty, honey malt and fruity too - Greengages and custard pears, the caramel included like a dessert topping. Some chocolate notes accompanied by morning mist/dew fallen on light green moss by old oak fencing, long since treated and now well and truly seasoned. Enjoyable with some head nodding but standard fair nevertheless.
T: Honey and caramel light yet confident arrival, freshening and thickening with lots of very finely ground pepper building, and building…. The spirit now spirals out of control. The caramel is the only other note that survives the peppery spirit. Adding water adds a few chocolate notes but if anything it gets more peppery especially into the finish.
F: A faint touch of those custard pears but the spirit has killed everything else off. Finally a fresh, chalky bitter residue resides.
C: This Aberfeldy isn’t a total shocker but aside from the more promising nose the rest is stubbornly and annoyingly one dimensional.
