    Tasting Notes by Adelphi;

    1 of only 237 bottles from cask 2022
    Sitting close to the River Forth between Edinburgh and Glasgow this was probably the finest Lowland distillery in Scotland. Sadly it was closed in 1993, and slowly, but surely the make is becoming harder to find. This 14 year old example is from a refill American oak barrel. Pale gold in colour it is fresh and fragrant on the nose with summery scents of washing up water and herbal shampoo. However, there is also a hint of liquorice or even black treacle in the background with acidic fruits, sherbet and boiled sweets to the fore. Water brings out more shampoo and some lychees, while the palate is mouth-cleansing, fresh and light. The perfect aperitif whisky.

    Plays well with water! The candied, lemony licorishy pepper finish works. You breath in on the finish and can feel the flavors dance together. The dynamic plays out if you add a little water.

    14 yo 1991/2006 (53.3%, Adelphi, cask
    Colour: white wine. Nose: punchy,
    pungent and grassy, starting on notes
    of aniseed, lemon, dill and parsley.
    Faint smokiness (cigarettes). Quite
    some liquorice, old wood, getting
    resinous but also purer and cleaner.
    Nice presence. Mouth: rich and sweet
    but also really marked by the wood,
    quick to get quite tannic and drying.
    Lots of tea. Other than that we have
    the expected lemons, candied tangerines,
    and a long, citrusy and peppery finish.
    Still lots of tannins, really drying
    at the finish - and somewhat aggressive.
    78 points.
