N: This is immediately fabulous [as the good Bowmore's tend to be], with a huge alcoholic nasal hit and a large farmy character. Notes are inevitably then on cow pats, muddy cattle yards and rich pastoral grassland with cows everywhere. it's salty too. Further reading suggests this can be more fruity neat [WF], though I hadn't added any water at this stage. Maybe oxidisation also subdued the harvest as they never really came to,.. fruition.
T: Acute, powerful and impressive stuff - one that hits home. Becomes sugary after the initial roar.
F: Light sweet herbal, some mineral farm notes and a light soap.
C: Fruits or not, I liked this plenty. Blog

Transferring previous Note (2011.12.15) content into a Tasting Note
    • Nose
first of: mineral/granite dust, meaty & cold smoke (prosciutto), (wet) fur (goat/), fanta (90)
a few minutes: turning woodier, sweeter, fruitier, but sweetness got a
touch chemical/artifical. Vanilla oil, licorice, burnt wood, (89)
some time: turning fruitier & natural (raspberries, strawberries),
cold wood smoke comes back nearly dominating again, mineral notes are
back as well, quite musty now as well, orange zest olive oil, linen,
W a drop of water: similar but more farmy towards hay & less
smoky, also some orange notes. Feels less thick & heavy and in
comparison even fresh. Wood & vanilla comes through earlier and
makes it feel a bit more generic. (88)
With quite a lot of water: Now
we`re talking. Fresh lemon balm leaves,
guava, sandalwood, chlorine, hardly any smoke, which is a bit of a
shame. Still beautiful, especially seeing what it started out as. (93)
    • Taste
first of: strong alcohol, but equally strong flavours - cold smoke, mineral, malt (88)
Later: cooked raspberry sweets, smoke, cereals, vanilla wood,  (89)
    • Finish
first of: cold smokehouse walls, amazing length, intertwined with nice
fresh peach & light raspberry notes, feels cool on the finish. (92)
raspberry drops turn to blueberry, waves of smoke next to it.
Anaesthetic strength. Had some weak gooseberries at the end. (93)
water: with a few drops it felt like it had less happening & smoke
& fruit seems to have been taken aback by a step and steering a bit
towards a mineral profile in general. (87)
With quite a lot of water: utterly pleasant, maybe a bit too much as it is very agreeable & unchallenging now. (91)
