An unusual Glenfarclas! The fruity and sweet aromas of the nose combined with spicy wood notes promise an extraordinary pleasure. Unfortunately, the fruitiness and sweetness of the nose are lost in the taste and finish. An unusual and atypical Glenfarclas which nevertheless convinces.
    • Nose
At the beginning of nosing, surprisingly, a subtle hint of smoke rises from the glass. Sweet and subtly tart fruit notes mix with dry woody elements, the nose becomes slightly grassy and mineral. Malty sweetness and a hint of vanilla, then dark caramel comes to light. Oily and viscous drops are released from the viscous streaks and adhere to the glass wall almost endlessly. Slowly, the non-typical for Glenfarclas nose develops an intense apricot and peach flavor. I fancy a subtle hint of salt ... Spicy wood elements mix with dried raisins, milk chocolate mixes with orange and apple flavor. Creamy butter biscuits are distributed in the nose, a subtle, sprightly alcoholic note slowly dissolves from the fruity aromas.
    • Taste
Dry and tart wood aromas are mixed with sour, slightly fermented fruits at the first sip. A bitter woody note is suddenly spicy and light sweetness and subtle caramel dissolve from the old logs. Slight heat is distributed on the tongue, a pinch of salt and black pepper are added. Still sticky oily and viscous streaks on the glass wall, somehow the whole Glenfarclas now seems clumsy and massive. Spicy and dry wood aromas emanate a fine-sour and subtly spicy aroma, the sharpness dances on the tongue and goes powerfully into the finish.
    • Finish
The discreetly sharp and tart aromas still glow on the palate. Slightly sour fruit aromas and tart oak aromas make me forget the fruity and sweet aromas of the nose. Again, a subtle smoke aroma comes to bear and slowly sets itself an intense and old walnut flavor. Tart and spicy oak dominate the finish and remain long and warm in memory.
