Nose and taste are pretty okay, not big but nice. But finish disappoints, as a lot of aroma's and flavour get lost.
    • Nose
      83 83
Hay, grassy. Fruity as well, apples. Some vanilla and honey, and later on some pineapple too.
    • Taste
      82 82
Pretty strong, tickling, grassy, pineapple. Chocolate. Sweet, vanilla. Later on it is getting a little bitter, grapefruit. Also some earthy tones.
    • Finish
      80 80
A bit disappointing suddenly; pretty short, flat, somelike bitter, grapefruit. Just a little bit tickling still.

The taste he likes me, but the nose is very restrained.
He definitely needs a lot of time (30-60 minutes), then he gets much better.
    • Nose
      73 73
      Honey, light salt, lemon.
With a deeper nose, alcohol notes are also heard. There is also something mineral, goes slightly towards wood, vanilla and coconut.
Overall, but very restrained, uncomplex and weak.
    • Taste
      84 84
Sweet, much more light honey and fresh wood. Then a spice is added. He stays nice and sweet. Minimal salty notes with lemon.
    • Finish
      79 79
Short to medium, with a dry finish. Slightly spicy or bitter. Lemon and salt remain. Add some vanilla and wood. With some milk chocolate.

Comes in a Liter bottle. It's a NAS Whisky, but it's good value for the money spent.
    • Nose
      84 84
Floral notes, Citrus, Peach, Tangerine, Pear, Vanilla, Anise. Beautiful nose. Refreshing, this is definitely a whisky for the summer.
    • Taste
      82 82
Alcohol, quite sharp on the tongue. Salty, bitter, not very sweet. Also some oakwood.
    • Finish
      82 82
Dry, some bitterness, Citrus, Salt. The taste and the finish cannot continue the the good impression that the nose made.

Very drinkable, nice refreshing, nice mix even if he would have tolerated 2-3 years more safely.
    • Nose
A little weak on the chest, but has nice notes of fresh pear and green apple, some pineapple, light honey and vanilla, white chocolate, some toffee, some Esthernoten, light malt, some salt
    • Taste
Surprisingly grassy, but at the same time sweet, cotton candy, pear syrup, green apple, light malt and vanilla, white chocolate, a few coconut flakes, some apricot and butter biscuits, young, sharp oak in between, but still in the frame
    • Finish
Here more of the bright malt, the young oak in particular, a few Esthernoten, pear brandy, medium long

at that price this is more than a decent dram
    86/100
    • Nose
fresh on apples and pears, hints of tangerines. a little vanilla and custard pie. coarse and hints of honey, hay.
not great but pleasant so far.
    • Taste
grassy and fruity, a little floral. apples and danish pastry with a little vanilla and a few hazelnuts. a little sharp and youngish though there is even some oak invovlved.
    • Finish
long but a little narrow, very fresh and clean

This is such a chocolate cake with a little cinnamon and slices of lemon on the surface - it's not bad, but it's not even exhausting
    • Nose
Outstanding sweet smell - brown sugar, caramel, vanilla, gingerbread, lemon, malt
    • Taste
Taste once again dessert sweet and at the same time spicy (at least at the beginning) - vanilla, sweet biscuits, nougat, woodiness, at the end of the flashing citrus fruit
    • Finish
In the finish, woodiness, caramel and a little spice - surprisingly, they feel mint

Makes a spicy and unusually "thick" impression in the mouth, but unfortunately can not score with me
    • Nose
At first restrained, lemony, young, fruit flavors I find not otherwise, but associations of coast and port, a trace of smoke
    • Taste
unusually creamy, strong spiciness, alcohol is noticeable but not unpleasant
    • Finish
warm-spicy, some tingling remains in the mouth, but the length leaves something to be desired

Great daily dram. Fresh and salty a typically pulteney, perhaps a bit young. great value especially for the price.

Tasty light whisky, after 10 minutes you taste mandarins.

a beautiful, typical (1st-fill?) - Bourbon barrel whisky for coconut lovers and a nice example of association and imagination of flavors - Is there really salt? Or am I just imagining it, because Old Pulteney often reads about it? Would I find it blind? No idea. ;-)
    • Nose
fresh-fruity (apple, pear, lemon), slightly sweet, vanilla,! coconut !, the freshness could easily be associated with salt, after a while a little sweeter, applesauce, light roasted aromas
    • Taste
crispy-sweet, coconut biscuits, vanilla, honey, roasted sugar, a little bit of spice, which causes a fresh kick and presumably the often-read salt association
    • Finish
medium long, sweet, spicy, liquorice, pepper (and salt? ;-))

Old Pulteney WK499 Isabella Fortuna, Second Edition, Original Bottling, 46% alc.
    Region: Highlands, Scotland

Nose: Fresh and with a nice fruity onset. Immediately, the vanilla falls on, joined by coconut. This is followed by a porridge of apples, pears and citrus fruits. After malty impacts come the typical for Pulteney salt notes.
    ...
Palate: Strong, significantly heavier than the nose announces. First come the fruit note, especially creamy coconut cream. Behind it lightly pungent lemon and sea salt. Pleasant interplay, albeit unusual.

Finish: Dry and bitter with salty maritime notes, intense and medium in tone.

Conclusion: Beautiful dram, the nose does not quite fit the rest. The mild aromas of the nose come with a force on the palate ... Since I like the salty sea breeze, the malt still finds a permanent place in my home bar.

    Not a bad young malt
    • Nose
Vanilla, rhubarb and custard boiled sweets and apples
    • Taste
Boiled sweets again, spicy and slight vanilla
    • Finish
      Salt, vanilla and pepper

Tastes and smells pretty undermatured, unfortunately.

  19. Erik Elixir scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

N: malty, citrus, fudge, marzipan, vanilla apple, honey, nuts - almond paste and cinnamon
T: soft bourbon fruits, pepper, egg yoke, nuts - hazelnut and lemon
F: some wood, malty, nuts, nutmeg and vanilla
    blind tasting with Kay

  20. KayMeertens scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

N: Marzipan, vanilla, floral notes, green apple, citrus, hazelnut, caramel, malt, honey and some sea salt.
T: Apple, roasted almond, hazelnut, brown sugar, 7up-ish lime, liquorice, vanilla, banana and oaky spice, with a salty edge.
F: Stronger liquorice and salt, which I don't often find in a non-peated malt and which is a trade mark of Old Pulteney for me. Also vanilla, malt, almond, hazelnut, lime, caramel and very light smoke.
More oily and more floral than the first release. Bought a bottle of this one because I liked the first release, but the difference in quality between them is quite big.

    • Taste
Pleasant and slightly sweet taste with subtle notes of vanilla and spices
    • Finish
      Warm and bright finish
