    - a significantly different grade than the 10-year standard
    - more intense and fruity, but for a "sherry whisky"
    not necessarily my taste
    - compared to the other 12 y. from Glenmorangie with
Distance of the last from the 3
    - Prices have risen well, would charge me for 5€ more
definitely prefer to buy the Quinta Ruban
    • Nose
clear sherry note, grapes, subtly sweet, rather dry or tart note
    • Taste
Relatively strong attack, sherry, raisins, at the end there is a direction like dry red wine
    • Finish
      medium length, dry finish ;
fruity, slightly bitter coating remains on the palate

    • Nose
Vanilla notes, dried apricots and other dried fruits, applesauce, dry sherry, wet tree, broken branch, rainy freshness, creamy caramel. 21
    • Taste
Medium-bodied, moderately sweet. Black pepper, cinnamon and other spices, creamy caramel, dried apricots, dried apple, woody tannins, oak bitterness, a little salt. 21
    • Finish
Between short and medium in length, smoothly decaying, tannic. 20
A pleasant, even whisky, sherry is present, but does not fill everything with itself. Balance 21

Better than another batch I tried, which seemed full of Sulphur. But still not a "go to" malt.

  7. schengel10 scored this whisky 74 points Connoisseur

A decent 12-year-old, but in comparison to his two conspecifics "Quinta" and "Nectar" drops significantly!
    • Nose
      distinct velvety fruity sherry note, slight sweetness, spiciness (wooden, a lot of oak);
    • Taste
      strong wooden start, sherry, raisins; getting dry, a little out of round;
    • Finish
      medium-length "sharp" finish, becoming dry in the finish (coating);

I expected something different, but I'm not disappointed. There is not as much sherry as thought, but it is delicious and can be drunk much too well ... Another glass ...
    • Nose
      80 80
In the nose significantly less sherry than expected. Raisins and caramel. Overall, very pleasant.
    • Taste
      78 78
Strong! Tongue tingling, blackberries, cherries, chocolate, light pepper. Where was the sherry now?
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium long, warm and spicy. The raisins are back.
      .....
I have to correct that now: After more than 5 minutes the raisins are still there! This is not a mid-length, that's a long finish!

Nice noise but one-dimensional and a little bit sickening in the finish.
    • Nose
Light sherry, honey, vanilla. The house style comes through nicely.
    • Taste
Light and watery. Musty sherry, cloying sweet, milk chocolate and cocoa.
    • Finish
Dry tannins, astringent, acidic, rather off-putting.

  18. vojt466 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Taste and relish might be even a little more robust about the scent, but drinking is good for a very good price
    • Nose
Combination of raisins, dried figs, sherry, vanilla, chocolate biscuits and other woody tones and skins. The smell is smooth, sometimes almost bourbon with a little cooling menthol. This is what I can do
    • Taste
The taste is sherry, oranges, vanilla, woody, nuts and a little cinnamon. Salty occasionally tastes like salt. Otherwise, it is generally fruity, juicy and smooth with very fine spiciness
    • Finish
In reverberation vanilla, raisins, chocolate biscuits and cinnamon. Dozvuk is rather so smooth and not too long, but the middle course will be :)

    • Nose

    • Taste
A bang, first sweet at the tip of the tongue then a strong start, explosion leads directly to tongue tingling, dark fruits and caramel
    • Finish
medium length, saliva, sweetish, ripe, some milk chocolate

Very interesting change of fruit into flower when adding water.
With time the taste improves significantly. Non-chill filtered, 46%. Now leave the E150 behind and this is a top craft whisky. Buy!
    • Nose
No water: sweet of fruits: Strawberries. Sultanas. Banana. With hints of Mint. Cookie dough.
With water: floral sweetness. No more fruits. Wood. Citrus. Peppery herbs.
    • Taste
No water: creamy sultana arrival. With sherry development, and mint and pear.
With water: even more creamy arrival, now of sherry and banana. A warm, wet floral sweet development.
    • Finish
Long finish, with slight metallic accent, and soury tones.

  34. Igor scored this whisky 82 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
Reasonable sharpness on the surface - but restrained, not harsh, maybe slightly poignant perfume note, acacia/mimosa flowers?, sour lemon oil, pencil eraser, sherbet lemon/boiled lemon sweets, cream liqueur, tinned peach, crispiness, newsprint, dried peaches and apricots. Closed, discreet in general, this is challenging and demanding in actual fact.
    • Taste
Surprisingly ardent, pungent, full-bodied, with big salty arrival of sea water, brown seaweed (laminaria)/iodic marine plants, pickles. Mid-palate conducts profound citrussy bitterness enhanced by orange peel, dried apricots, apricot jam, also a pinch of turmeric spice, dry sage tea note, baking soda, salted soda cracker.
    • Finish
Warm lengthy finish, gradual. Acidic orange, mandarin, sweet citron, limoncello, slowly diminishing acidity shifts then by thyme, ground cumin, caraway pudding, brown toasts.

A nice and light single malt that is extra-matured in a spanish oloroso sherry cask. This adds some beautiful fruitiness and spiciness to the standard Glenmorangie Original. The Sherry does not become rampant though.

    Tasting with Armin Fuchs.
    • Nose
vanilla, Sherry (not very dominant), sweet, intense caramel cream, intense dark milk chocolate, wood planks underneath the alcohol, hairdresser's ?, UHU, cherry, peach, yellow apple, some spice between chocolate and cask, different hints of fruits (interplay between pear, strawberry, banana, apricot)
    • Taste
sweet, little syrupy, lemonade, sour, vanilla, dry wood, cask again and again, noble herb chocolate, light and warm, sherry, hints of coffee, citrus (orange ?), hints of smoke ?, floral components, spiciness, oloroso sherry cask
    • Finish
vanilla, different fruits such as apricot and cherry, some tartness, apple peel, chocolate (dark), pleasant

  39. Hans-Ludwig did not rate this whisky Shoplink Moderator

The Glenmorangie shows radiant in a strong brown. The nose is flattered by a community of sherry, peach and raisin. Bright fruits shimmer out of the background. There is also a hint of marzipan. The taste initially irritates by an unexpected peppery pungency. Then sweet parts come out and push together with the vanilla the sharpness back, to then form a new whole that makes us think of butter toffee. The aftertaste is medium long and bring back the peppery notes.
A delicious drop that is just fun.

I really like this dram. It is not as straight forward as, let’s say, a
Macallan 12 SO. More complex right from the start, but without any great
flavor profiles emerging after prolonged subjection to air. This is
what Serge probably calls the lack of tertiary flavors due to short
maturation periods in various kinds of wood. Overall, and for the price
of 35€, I can definitely recommend this to anyone who likes sweet,
sherried whisky. It loses points for the finish, but that’s a minor
    thing.
    • Nose
Pungent sherry with zesty oranges. Starts rather citric but becomes
sweeter the longer you let it breathe in the glass. Coffee beans and
      toasted oak.
    • Taste
Initially sweet, then drying on the tip of the tongue. Ripe red apples
followed by a slight bitterness. Cinnamon. Those sherry casks were
potent and probably European oak. Hints of prunes and raisins.
    • Finish
Rather short. Herbs and heather honey in the after taste. The bitterness lingers.

Has been aged for 10 years in American white oak which has been
previously bourbon. After this long period the distillate is poured into
Spanish Oloroso sherry casks for a two year finish to get the whole finish.

  47. drkrylov scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

An Oloroso sherry finished whisky from Glenmorangie, the word `Lasanta` derives from the Gaelic for Warmth and Passion.

  48. drkrylov scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Elegant but full bodied this whisky has spent ten years maturing in American white oak ex-bourbon casks before being extra-matured for a further two years in Oloroso Sherry casks from Jerez in Spain.
