The fragrance is restrained, sweetish, sherry: new skin, cream, milk chocolate, floral honey, notes of dried fruits, foliage, dry wood, culinary herbs, ripe southern fruits, iodine, vegetable oil. Taste : fruits and berries, herb bitter, spices and herbs (pepper, vanilla, cloves), wood, salt and iodine, milk chocolate. Aftertaste slightly astringent, soft: wood, a hint of salt and iodine, spices, sherry, raisins, nuts. Long. Conclusion . Soft, enveloping whisky with signs of nobility. Consistent, consistent. Not fouled, regardless of age. Major League. The score is 93 (n24t23f23b23).

    Bunnahabhain 1968/2011 (43.8% Whisky-Fässle, refill sherry)
Colour: pale gold. Nose: and yet again, we’re in the same ballpark.
Most probably a sister cask. Maybe this one is a tad quieter and has a
little more grass and green tea, but other than that, as I said, it’s
globally the same whisky. Mouth: same. You could reread my notes for the
Wilson & Morgan if you like ;-). Finish: same. This baby and the
W&M are almost undistinguishable. Comments: what a great series of
casks. I know these notes are too short, so now, I’m going to tell you
the joke about a chef who always cooks with whisky and who, sometimes,
even adds it to the food… Ahem. SGP:551 – 90 points.

    sample from a friend
    • Nose
Honey and a melange of ripe fruits and tropical fruits, like a light and fermented nectar. Orange wedges, clementines, mango nibs, pineapple (non-acidic), guava, spun sugar, and even some vanilla, which turns a bit to the old oaky glue. Resinous fruit and pith. Something floral, less in a field as much as delicate fruit.
    • Taste
Light and a little thin. A definite oak influence, yet gentle and thoroughly integrated. Honey and the same flowers, and then little drops of mango and clementine juice in a fine honey. Spun sugar a swell. You see where this is going.
    • Finish
The oak yields something of vanilla and glue here, too. The fruit dissipates even as it becomes part of the honey (retrolfaction draws out everything). Sweet orange essence lurks in the rear - and then more juicy clementines. No water for this. It's thin and watery enough, just very delicious.

    Wow, a very good whiskyâ€
    • Nose
Perfection! Really beautiful. Sweet. Honey. A lot of fruits: Apples, apricots, Galia melon, plums, oranges. And all very balanced. Wonderful.
    • Taste
An extension of the nose. Still very rebellious for its age. Fully flavoured with more fruit. Gets also a bit malty and grassy.
    • Finish
      Long. Citrus fruits.

Nose: cream brulee, banana, apricot and a full honey tone, spicy, salty with a grapefruit / lime fresh.

Taste: Soft mouthfeel, fruit gums, fruity apple, honey, vanilla, salt and grapefruit with a slightly woody undertone.

Finish: Medium long, but thin, flavors like the taste, but with increasing fresh mint. Sounds a bit bitter then.

    88 points (nose: 90 / taste: 86 / finish: 88)

Fruity nose (juicy and ripe apples, pears and bananas), balanced beautifully with lovely honey and vanilla aspects. A drop of water released more noticeable sherry notes. The nose became even more complex after a few minutes in the glass, with more tropical fruits appearing (pineapple and possibly also some mango) alongside roasted chestnuts and some faint spices. Sweet, fruity and wonderfully balanced on the palate. Long and warming finish, with a strong oak presence dominating just a bit too much.

    Excellent!
    • Nose
The nose is fruity, oaky, black banana`s, apricot, breadfruit, honey.
    • Taste
Sweet vanilla, soft and elegant spices, oak
    • Finish
Medium to long finish dominated by oak and fading out in bitter almonds

  15. Malt Hans scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Fruity aroma, ripe banana, passion fruit, red

apples, orange juice, vanilla, cloves and oak. Vanilla sweet taste,

ginger, almonds, oak, strong tea and orange marmalade. Long, spicy and

    fruity end.

Islay without ash, peat and phenols
    • Nose
      Fruit peel, dates, bananas, the slightest bitterness of the oak;
      infinitely differentiated
    • Taste
The above reinforces, to honey, the sherry demands his share ...
    • Finish
... until the furious finish, during which the oak grows even stronger, cinnamon

Without a doubt one of the best Bunna I have tried at this time.
    • Nose
Ah, what a divine nose! A veritable fruit basket with apples, pears,
banana, mango, pineapple and apricots. The whole is drenched in honey and very
waxy. Light brown sugar and a hint of butterscotch. Even a drop of rum. The
longer you leave it, the fruitier it becomes.
    • Taste
On the palate it is also waxy and fruity. The promise of the nose is
kept. This does not always work for older Bunna, I feel, but here it does.
Apples and pears in a frying pan, flambéed and sprinkled with saffron and
cinnamon. The yellow fruit evolves into dark fruit. Sultanas become dades,
      apricots become figs. Amazing!
    • Finish
Only in the finish, which lasts long and is wonderfully fruity, is the
      oak discernable.

  18. I_SPEY scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

The colour is pale gold and the nose is very fruity, oakyish, with banana`s, apricots, mango, honey, sherry, all very subtle  and delicious; the mouth is the same but more rich and fruity, nice full body, with more honey, cinnamon, raisins and figs. Perfect it is, with a nice, long finish and ....oak!

    I+W.

    Thank you CJ :-)
