    One of the better single malts I've had the pleasure of tasting this year.
    • Nose
      An old school sherry influence with plenty of umami that is rare these days. Mushrooms, soy sauce and thyme with just a touch of acidity. Also chocolate, mocha and ground coffee beans. Then there are plums, brown sugar, prunes and figs. Very rich and dense.
    • Taste
      Thick and mouthcoating. Lovely zesty, citric fruitiness, the Ben Nevis spirit shines despite the obvious intense sherry maturation. Just a whisper of smoke, some pipe tobacco, dates and rose petals, but also lychees, blackcurrants and Demerara sugar.
    • Finish
      Soft dryness. Some lingering pepper, subtle acidity and stewed fruits notes. Long.

    Flambé bananas, rubber bands and cola with a lime twist on the nose. Really velvety, rich red velvet cake to match the mouthfeel, figgy pudding, balsamic, oily. Cigar on the finish among many other things. The sherry is prominent here. A luxurious leather arm chair in front of a fire type of dram

      An absolutely beautiful nose... earthy, nutty, sherry, with some pan roasted mushrooms and lovely sprinklings of sea salt... and creamy nuts galore!! This is exactly my jam!

      Woah.. this is rich, thick, lots of umami, with beautiful soy sauce and oyster sauce, beautiful oak, and that nuttiness again.... Superb. A+ plus some Nevis dirtiness! Love it! So similar to a 1972 Ledaig/Tobermory. Yup, my jam.

      No faults at all. Ends beautifully, ends with great panache and lovely heartache.

    First fill into fresh bourbon barrels on 20th december 1984, matured for almost 14 years until 14th of october 1998. Then it was vatted and transferred into fresh sherry butts.

    Note of 2012:
    Whoa. Delicious. Before bottling everything still smells of chocolate, now I open the vial, and it comes to me an intense walnut cloud, then a breeze of basil. After pouring then full kitchen shelf in the nose, basil, thyme, Maggi, then on the tongue nice heavy, walnut, sweet, bittersweet, you do not want to let out of his mouth. Then stick well too. Good pure drinkable, because I do not need water. But for the record a droplet ... ne, let it be, that's fine as it is.

    A very nice heavy sherried Ben Nevis. Very much Glendronach-like.
    • Nose
      Rich and round. Christmas cake. Sweet sherry. Stewed fruits of figs and dates. Herbal notes as well. Fudge.
    • Taste
      Lots of prunes. Sultanas. Coffee and chocolate. Raisins. Cranberry juice.
    • Finish
      Long and warming. A little pepper. Nutmeg and cinnamon.

    Distilled in Dec 1984, matured in 3 different casks 98/35/5 of unknown previous content, then were vatted in a single sherry cask in Oct 1998, and bottled in Dec 2010.

    Its strength, its roundness, its thickness and its suavity are guarantors of a remarkable maturation.
    • Nose
      Rich. Melted butter caramel. Slight notes of dried fruits. Here, the common thread is leather: from the softness of suede to the leather of an old armchair.
    • Taste
      Extraordinarily concentrated. Bitter butter caramel, dark chocolate, sour cherry. Similar to a very old bourbon.
    • Finish
      Dried coconut Suave and long.
