  1. WhiskyNotes scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

A thick and juicy Imperial with buttery vanilla and spices from the oak. Not much evolution but very enjoyable
    • Nose
Sweet with juicy butter pears, pineapple candy and plenty of vanilla powder. Crème anglaise, some white chocolate as well. Marzipan and roasted almonds. Apples with cinnamon. Quite thick.
    • Taste
Big bodied with similar aromas. Sweet and slightly sticky fruits (orange marmalade, ripe pear) with pleasant spices (light pepper, cinnamon). Balanced oak. Generous dashes of honey. Apple pie.
    • Finish
Medium long, still the same profile of fruit pie, honey and spices.

Imperial 21 yo 1990/2011 (52.7%, The Whisky Agency, bourbon hogshead, 233 bottles)
Colour: pale gold. Nose: we’re well in the style of the 1995 this time,
with maybe just a little more café latte and caramel cream. Very, very
nice notes of juicy ripe Williams pears and a lot of vanilla. With
water: same. Maybe something a little more floral, roses… Mouth (neat):
rich, mouth coating, more complex than the others, maybe thanks to the
older age. Same kind of fruitiness (including papayas) but also more
spices and herbs. Chives, dill, ginger… Excellent. With water: perfect
balance, it’s the Silver Seal that went one step further towards perfect
age. Lemon, ginger, caramel sweets (Werther’s) and vanilla and lemon
pie. Very sexy, so to speak. Finish: medium long, even more on lemon pie
(with a lot of custard). Cardamom and ginger in the aftertaste – some
kind of sweet Indian sauce? Comments: quite brilliant, this one! I can’t
wait to taste these ‘American’ Imperials when they reach 25 or even 30
    years of age… SGP:651 - 89 points.

Nose: spicy, juicy and ripe pear, cream, coffee latte, some oak, vanilla Taste: creamy, light fruit, pear, spicy notes that develop significantly to cardamom Finish: medium, again the pear peel and cardamom, dry with a little oak

Great combination, so many cardamom I have never had in a dram in the glass.
