Melon tropical fruits grapefruits, on the nose, unfortunately some soapy note on the palate hides everything else, I guess coming from the sample, rating based on the nose only

It is clear from this tasting that the first fill sherry were among the best here, GM cask 1975 came top here with cask 1976 was 4th. The Mos is one I have had before and is excellent, (believed first fill also) and both the TWA ones are also good being refill sherry casks. Two of the DT were good but two were not as good but still got a decent score, The whisky Fassle also got a very respectable score.

It looks like Glen Grant No2 can age just as well in first/second fill sherry cask as it's still running sister distillery

Tried it with water first but the finish is better neat.
What i would call a nice competent whisky, but not quite 90 point material.
    • Nose
      88 88
A light fragrant nose at first that develops on stewed white fruits and fruit gum sweets.
Apple, hint of peach, mango and faint pineapple with a little white pepper spice and hints of sweet peat, like caol ila but not as powerful.
Finally a little orange but faint/
    • Taste
      89 89
With a little water added the wood is still showing but the fruit that the nose promised is battling all the way.
The fruit just about holds its own and develops nicely and the spice note and the peat increase, not powerful peat or high ppm but it is there.
    • Finish
      90 90
Holds itself together well , long and warming

Have to say he made me a little disappointed, that it is my favorite distillery and then at the age. He is just quite bright and monotonous, but still very good quality.
    • Nose
Very light, lots of pear, pure pear puree, vanilla, light honey, shortbread, green apple, already typical Caperdonich, but blind more like a 14-16 year old, some sweet pineapple
    • Taste
Like the nose, a lot of pear, vanilla, honey, green apple, some kiwi and pineapple, toffee, from the middle then suddenly a violent oak edge, the age still comes through, but rather inharmonious to the fruit part, dry herbs, oregano, rosemary, Ginger, anise, salt and lavender
    • Finish
Again, a bit short, especially for the age, oak, herbal honey, green apple and ginger

In view of the many fruits of this drop must contain an extremely high amount of vitamin C and certainly has a preventative effect against colds!
    • Nose
There comes an exotic fruit bomb first class, a bit grassy, also white chocolate, tropical wood
    • Taste
      Honey, fruits, slightly kinked
    • Finish
and then the fruit bomb explodes, slightly peppery, wonderfully supported by cedar wood

Tasted on a sunny holiday afternoon in the Algarve, Portugal. Tnx Rick for the sample! Took some time to taste it.
    • Nose
Lots of yellow apples followed by pineapple and melon.. Very fresh and tropical. We're in 1972 territories again. Grasy notes at the background.
    • Taste
Sweet and sugared barey. More cut grass now intermingled with gooseberries. Cedar wood. Some buttery notes as well. Hints of vanilla and toffee. Later on bitterness of grapefruit. Also lemon.
    • Finish
Medium long. Some pepper. Nutmeg. Also ginger a little spearmint.

Wow! There are fruity Capers that are more in your face, but this subtle
beauty really hits me where it counts. Thanks, Christof!
    • Nose
Bam, right of the bat! Fruit bomb! Loads of sweet fruit, both from the
orchard and the tropics, drenched in light honey. It has a wonderful mineral
quality as well. And that fantastic trace of smoke that you often find in
Capers from 1972. Wonderful and grand, without being loud. A rather subtle
beauty, like the quiet girl in the back row in class that you inexplicably were
always in love with. Too much information?
    • Taste
The attack is rather soft, with loads of fruit again, but also walnuts
and green tea. A soft, but wonderful bitterness. Citrus and banana emerge. Yes,
lime and lemon become louder all the time. The smoke is present on the palate
      as well. Subtle, but great.
    • Finish
The long finish on spices and citrus turns this into a fantastic feast.

    Elegant and well balanced
    • Nose
Apples (green), Pears, a little fresh herbs, honey and a weak oaky background.
    • Taste
Sweet taste of apples, vanilla and increasing soft spices
    • Finish
finish is mild with vanishing spices and a vague tendency of bitter almonds
