    A very delicious dram.

Noise: Smoky sweet peat with hints of soft hay and green grapes.

Palate; Sweet peat, green ripe apples, old mildly-sweet honey.

Finish; Peat smoke, a hint of iodine on the back end with sweet cigarette smoke.

Not very complex, but, extremely delicious! Yum,Yum, yummy!

NOSE: Medicinal peat. Farmy. Pepper and orange marmalade.

TASTE: Mint and liquorice. Wee bitter and briny.

    FINISH: Elegant and long.

ASSESSMENT: Normally I really love the cask strength, but I believe this tastes better at 46%. Maybe a Viking (Norwegian, not Swedish Viking) bottling with a windblown helmet at 50% next, just a suggestion.

Although this feels quite young I must say it is very pleasant. It is strong and powerful, full of flavors and something most peat lovers appreciate.

    • Nose
Salt licorice (hints of ammonium chloride), peat smoke, grass, burnt grass, mineral, soil and pepper. Water brings out some fresh lime juice, lemon grass and citric acid.
    • Taste
Quite bitter arrival with intensive peat smoke. there is tar, salt and pepper to back up the peat in the development. Also some barley spirit/new make. Water brings more licorice to the flavor profile.
    • Finish
The finish is peat smoke and mineral together with barley spirit. Water brings more aromatic pepper.

I would not usually refer to an auction price on a bottle page and while it  may be useful  to know (and comforting to some) that a bottle went for a totally absurd price of £620 in 2016 on SWA, why did you not highlight the latest SWA auction price for this bottle which is £135, why have you ignored the latest information on that auction?

This is much more useful IMHO,

    Colour:

    White wine

    Smell:

A soft, seductive fresh whisky with aroma’s of peat, smoke (much more subtle than I expected), straw, grass, butter coffee, ginger, soft white pepper, medicinal tones (iodine and railway sleepers), soft floral tones, heather honey, sea salt, mineral tones, lemon grass, lime juice and a hint of licorice.

    Taste:

a strong, powerful, mouth filling and sweet whisky with aroma’s of salt, floral peat smoke, pepper, cumin, orange peel, lime, gingerbread, pineapple, papaya’s, red apple, soft medicinal notes (iodine, railway sleepers, tar), soft sour tone, pepper, ginger, alcohol, more fruits than expected, grass, straw, wet earth and licorice root.

    Finish:

Quite a long and slightly drying finish with aroma’s of fresh tangy fruits, peat, smoke, medicinal tones, soft candy and a lovely lemony death.

    Conclusion:

Powerful and potent! If you by a Big Peat you expect big peaty aroma’s and that’s what this dram delivers. But next to that there are lovely lemony and grassy aroma’s that makes it a bit more than just a peat monster. Very enjoyable
