A light and complex bottling, especially the nose which is absolutely great. Taste and finish do not quite live up to this amazing start, but still very nice.

Oh this is simply lovely: fruity, honey, pear, ripe yellow apple, honeydew melon, canned tangerine, faint apricot, beeswax, also quite floral (heather blossom), wet limestone, chalk, a hint of shortbread cookies with mint and some sawdust at the back.
    • Taste
      89 89
Honey, barleysugar, pear, also a more sour like fruitiness with oranges, pineapple and some grapefruit. Quite some burning alcohol, despite the ABV being (just) below 50%. Finally there's quite a prominent spicy oak wood note which is completely absent in the nose with clear pepper and nutmeg.
    • Finish
      89 89
Medium in length and just a little too much emphasis on the wood. Honey, some citrus, ending with a warming and drying spiciness.

Nice one, although not the best Linkwood frim 1984 for me. Still an excellent pick in this music label range.
    • Nose
Apple, ripe pear little fudge and some herbs. Stewed apples now, coated with some honey.
    • Taste
Same as the nose, a bit more herbal and black pepper. More on unripe apples.
    • Finish
Medium to short finish. Quite spicy.

Aromatic, fruity and tasty whisky. Very good.
    • Nose
Very fruity and aromatic. Plums, apples, pears, apricots. Lots of honey too. Citrusy notes and a bit of vanilla. Aeration brings subtle underwood notes.
    • Taste
Fruits and honey from the nose, spices from the oak and a little bit of mint.
    • Finish
      Long, orangey, drying.

Tasting Notes by Johan, 'Uncut'; Linkwood 26y 1984/2011 'Eleanor Whisky', 49.2%, The Whiskyman, 88 bottles
Mmm, wonderfully soft nose in the style of Clynelish 1982. Of the better Clynelish 1982 still. Sweet, fruity and cruel waxy. Beeswax, antique wax, waxed leather. Pear and peach. Then also orange. Light grassy, although not so much grass, rather heather. And honey. Clynelish meets Highland Park. Then earth and humus. And pine needles. Yep, a walk through a (wet) pine forest. Evolves very nicely. Reminds me what a sweet white wine (and I'm not talking about cheap liebfraumilch). A little soft oak, purely supportive, carrying. Absolutely beautiful nose. The taste is silky and buttery. First apricot, orange, honey, candy sugar, beeswax and pollen. Then some oak and herbs (nutmeg, liquorice and mint), but here as an extra dimension, it comes next, it's never about. Hey, even a little tropical fruit ... melon, yes, clearly some melon in the background. Water? Nhaaa. Long, round, sweet aftertaste with a delicious tantalizing spiciness. Blessed Linkwood, and terribly drinkable. After the Port Ellen 1983 again a great barrel selection from Dominiek. 91/100

One of the best Linkwoods I've had so far. Great Speyside fruitiness with balanced spices.
    • Nose
Aromatic and rather sweet, with fruity elements (apple, apricot, orange). Nicely balanced by some mint and heather. Hints of orange blossom. Excellent beehive notes as well (beeswax, honey, pollen). A hint of vanilla. Fresh oak. Over time it develops some damp earthy notes (not sure about this, but at least it doesn't bring down the otherwise very attractive nose).
    • Taste
Quite fruity again (oranges, apples, pineapple) with honey and a malty base. Elegant spicy notes from the oak (mint, ginger, anise, peppermint). A little heather again. Well-balanced with a gentle woody kick giving it some depth.
    • Finish
Long and warm, with fruits and drier notes from the wood.
