  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

A beautiful and complex Glen Grant from a bourbon cask. Tnx Dirk for the sample!
    • Nose
The first association on the nose are juicy apples and fresh pears. Pine apples and sweet tangerines as well. Followed by sweet honey and soft vanilla. Sandal wood. Beeswaxed furniture at the background.
    • Taste
Jammy, very waxy mouthfeel with apricot jam and candied apples. Ripe bananas. Also hints of lemon and lime. Marmelade. Marzipan. Lots of cinnamon. Toasted oak. Complex and Multi-layered.
    • Finish
Long. A little white pepper and nutmeg. Ginger. Slightly tanninic. Liquorice. Well balanced.

It’s good, but it’s too strong for me in everything, and it bothers me a lot, sadly ...

  4. thijs100 scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

A lovely old-school Glen Grant. The spices dominate the palate just a tad too much, but highly enjoyable overall.
    • Nose
A thin layer of furniture polish quickly makes way for freshly cut red apples, pineapple and a whiff of coconut shavings. Some faint squeezed orange juice, as well as vanilla and puff pastry. Elegant and complex.
    • Taste
Incredibly waxy. First a hint of grapefruit and oranges, but then moves on to spicier territory. Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger. Some menthol too. Doesn't swim very well.
    • Finish
Some pepper, but becomes fruitier. Long.

Fruity and spicy aroma, pear, apple, orange, cinnamon, cloves, anise, vanilla, heather honey and dry hay. Marzipan sweet taste, ginger, pepper, mint, mango, ripe orange, soft tannins and vanilla. Long, fruity and spicy end.
