A blend. And not a good one. Enough to get drunk or pour Coke over it.
    • Nose
spicy, malty, a hint of wood, still bright fruits.
    • Taste
Short sweet, then quickly becoming bitter. A few bright fruits in it. The alcohol for 40% sufficiently strong.
    • Finish
Departure in no time, there is still little oak in it.

Found this one in a French supermarket and was a bit tempted by the beautiful box and bottle. With a background as a graphic designer, I am sensitive to this.

The whiskey itself, the nose is floral and slightly fruity. Little bit of smoke, maybe dried meat. Very pleasant and promising. The taste is too alcoholic for me, so there are few notes. There is very little aftertaste, and if there is, I prefer to flush it quickly.

    Blend !!
grain, vanilla, a little glue, a little spice, a little dirt from the sink, in short!
    • Nose
alcohol, dust, malt, finally coarse grain (looks like far or near togouchi!)
    • Finish
not or little, livid, not even like a starter!

    Plum Liqueur

This White Oak, without age statement, from the Eigashima or White Oak distillery in Japan, is a blend, not a single malt. White Oak is only active for two months per year, so their output is very limited. This blend, in bottles of 50cl, are available for around 30 EUR. It has matured some 5 to 6 years.

The nose is light and very accessible. Reminds a of plum liqueur. Some krieks as well. And hay in the background. Fairly simply, but pleasant.

The texture is light, honeysweet on plums and blood oranges with a lot of sugars, a nice peppery spiciness and a hint of smoke. This is becoming interesting.

The finish, however, is rather light and very short.

This is a pleasant enough Japanese blend, but nothing more. Thanks for the sample, Thierry.

    N-
Boiled berries and floral upfront. Gentle and soft for a young blend.
Vanilla and raw cereal, dusting powder. Light sourness and musky notes
    underlay.

T- Quite full, cooked porridge and oat meal. Restrained fruity sweetness. Frizzy with a layer of chili spiciness.

F- Medium length. Touch of spirity at the back and natural fresh wood
bitterness building up at the back of palate. Mild in general.

Nose of grain with a little solvent. The mouth is much less pleasant, coarse on wood and alcohol. Alcoholic final. Very average.

  13. zinaf scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Very intriguing blend of very good quality.
    • Nose
Fruits - plums and dried cherries. Some wood/hay smoke. Smoked ham even
    • Taste
Mild body, second wave of peppery spices; sweet and bitter edge to it. The smoke is still here.
    • Finish
      Short, light sweetness

This Blend is not developed, at the same price as a nikka front the barrel the choice is quickly made.
But time and experience will change its few flaws.

  17. Ikkakumon scored this whisky 40 points Expert Senior

A Japanese blend without large wings, light nose and little aromatic, soapy mouth, short finish and relatively unpleasant. Very expensive (about 30 euros for 500 ml) for a low quality, to avoid.

  18. Willie JJ scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

A very pleasant and easy to drink blend.
    • Nose
Jam sponge cake, golden syrup and a suggestion of something metallic. Very nice.
    • Taste
Mmm, really like biting into that moist sponge cake and having it melt
in your mouth. There's a new woodiness about it too. Slightly resiny
      with the faintest bitterness.
    • Finish
Lots of white pepper now with little washes of sweetness.
