Don't seek balance from this whiskey for there is none. In many ways, it is extreme; from its cask type to the way it has been conceived, through its fierceness and bitterness. Overall warm and delicious.
    • Nose
Hints of yellow fruits (apricot, juicy peach) and vanilla with a background of fresh malt. The sweetness inspires marshmallows. It eventually becomes closer to the earth, with notes of citrus.
    • Taste
Starts with a lot of citrus, strong clean notes of grapefruit, then white pepper. This is wonderfully bitter. The sweetness is all but gone. Malt also returns to deliver a cocoa buzz to the palate. The salinity is also quite fierce.
    • Finish
This whiskey fades away on salt and sand. There is coconut. The bitterness could be unbearable for many. The pepper remains forever. The ghost of the marshmallow from the nose comes back for a last haunting session.

On my nose I pick up citrus, honey, apricot, orange, grapefruit, gooseberries and hints of licorice and muskat. Frisk. The taste is sweet and fruity, with strawberries, muskat, vanilla and salt and cardamom towards the end. The finish is also sweet, with apricot, oak tree, pear, vanilla, candy sugar, watermelon and a little hint of soap. With water came more strawberries and apricot on the nose, less salt in the taste, but it came to a little lime. The taste also became fuller and there was a hint of butter towards the end as well as more spices. The end got more musk and grapefruit and the soap flavor disappeared. Still very fruity.
