Very enjoyable fruity sweet quite harmonic whisky, which on the other hand doesn't provide the depth expected from its age.

A lovely whisky just a tad too basic.
    • Nose
White peaches, very fresh fruitiness. With time turns to tinned peaches in syrup with an underlying note of malt. Red apples and other orchard fruits coming to play.
    • Taste
Berries and grapes, fresh red grapes with plenty of juice. Grape juice with a soft spicy tingle. A fruit salad with vanilla ice cream, the kind you had as a dessert when you were little.
    • Finish
Back on the white peaches with the furry skin. Its soft its delicate, medium.

Aroma : citrus, honey, flower theme, herbs (mint), fruits (ripe, sweet, tropical), earthy shades (foliage, humus), sweet sandy pastries, some chocolate. The taste is sweet: wine notes, berries and fruits, spices (vanilla), pastries, citrus, oak with bitter taste. The aftertaste is simple, oak with bitterness: a little spice (vanilla, pepper) ,. In development berry-wine theme and sweet, astringent oak Conclusion . As a rule, you expect a lot from a sotern barrel and often expectations are justified. Someturn finish can sometimes work wonders. And this time everything is not bad and even very good, but without brilliance, without development. Quite simply ... However, the pitches are high. In general, easy, pleasant silence. Score 85 (n22t21f21b21).

    • Finish
      Medium long, sweet, fruity

  8. Sonett scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

    Nice and drinkable
    • Nose
Lots of fruits, Apricots, Peach, Melon and Honey. Mature nose without alcohol tendencies. With water green apples appears and after some rest also lemon peel
    • Taste
Enters sweet with rapidly increasing spices.
    • Finish
Medium long with spices fading out in a woody tone

Argh, it started off so well with that almost tropical nose. But on the palate, it became a bit too much. A bottle will set you back around 95 EUR, which is fair for a single cask of this age. But the regular release, the BenRiach 16 Year Old Sauternes, is more to my liking.
    • Nose
Ah, the nose is wonderfully fruity, almost tropical. Yep, all sorts of fruits, but the main aroma, without a doubt, is juicy pineapple. Some vanilla and even almonds with a hint of citrus. Baked apples on cinnamon, too. Fresh and crispy.
    • Taste
It is slightly creamy on the palate, softly spiced with pepper and cinnamon, and again very fresh and fruity. Pineapple, melon, citrus. But midpalate it becomes honeysweet. Too sweet to my taste. Who would have thought?
    • Finish
The medium length finish remains utterly sweet.
