  1. Eclectic Scotchist scored this whisky 95 points Expert Senior

Heavy-bodied and with almost an oil-like texture. Absolutely stellar whisky, but it also carries a stellar price tag unfortunately as well.
    • Nose
“Coronation oil”, toffe-ridden sherry coated on old majestic wood with elements of dusty old (pleasant) zesty citrus, walnut wood, tobacco, leather, apricots, old fashioned candy shop, minerals (?), all kinds of tropical flavours dancing around in the background (very complex), a tad of beautifully restrained smoke, sherry spices, coffee, prunes, pecan nuts, dunnage storage, fruit-injected heavy syrup, dusty old furniture (pleasant), christmas cake, a very pleasant presence of old rubber (faint), fruity caramel, fried apples - this nose is constantly evolving, burnt syrup (faint, similar to many old Mortlachs), really pleasant notes reminiscent of face cream, butter, aloe-vera. Just gives and gives and gives.
    • Taste
Tobacco, cream, leather, grapefruit, sherry, much heavier than the nose should suggest! Quite tannic (pleasantly so), the same restrained smoke, old and majestic wood and a caramel fruitiness always present. Many more of the notes from the nose reappears here as well.
    • Finish
Very long - on the whole it is very similar to both the nose and the palate when it comes to individual flavours. The finish is one of the heaviest finishes I have experienced in a whisky, but at the same time it is very elegant with its beautiful balance between heavy wood, old leather etc on the one side and lighter fruit and sherry notes and pleasant spices etc on the other side. Wow.

    Plenty of flavor development.
    • Nose
Clean, dessert apple aroma. Macallan characteristic .
    • Taste
Big bodied, soft, embracing honeyed palate. Orange flower honey?
    • Finish
Long gingery spiciness. Some cookie-like maltiness. Light smokiness. Clean and appetizing.

(Of course the price is absolutely insane, I just want the weighted rate to reflect the whisky itself).
