  5. VISION_CHEN scored this whisky 73 points Expert Junior

Smell: The aroma is concentrated, the top note is some woody and citrus flavors, and the end is a little burnt chocolate chip cookie. The overall feeling is like throwing a paper airplane with all your energy, but the paper airplane is planted under your feet. .

Drink: The taste is full and soft, the end rhyme is not long, smoky and chocolate are involved.

Feeling: The richness is very low, the wine has no vitality, and it is lifeless. It is difficult to find Tesca's figure in it. The whole thing is almost impossible to reach the bottom line of expectations. Like the decadent plot in the movie, I don't like this character. Whisky.

It surprises me how Varied is quality of this Talisker series. This one is one of the worst vintages unfortunately.

A lot of false notes, ugly aftertaste, i do not like it at all..

A malt made for a rainy day in autumn. Very inviting nose, nice contrast of sharpness and fruitiness on the tongue, a finish as an echo of the palate.
    • Nose
How beautiful, maritime notes. Salzgeschwängerter wind at the sea, cooling. The smell of wet sand. Fresh sliced apple, red grapes. It is warming, slightly smoky, leather notes are mixed with vanilla pods with pepper. A compote of black cherries.
    • Taste
Creamy, almost creamy, and with a lot of volume on the tongue. Peppers sharpness. Very mild peat smoke, oak pieces. Also pleasantly salty on the tongue, the initial pepper is still present and gives off a good pick-me-up. In addition, cherry flavor, raisins, dried apricots. Dark chocolate and aged brittle leather.
    • Finish
Medium length, spicy, tart and fruity, not too dry. A tingling sensation on the tongue as a reminder of pepper & salt from the nose and mouth.

    • Nose
Sweet and malty. Perfumed leather. Campfire smoke, scented candle.
    • Taste
Sherry with prunes. Some smoke, pepper, ham. Malty.

  19. St. Pauli scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

The stunning nose was very promising, but the rest could not deliver the same spectacular high level. Still a very good dram, mind you.
    • Nose
The sherry has had it's effect, this smells deliciously umami: salt, sweet and sour (fermented grapes). Furthermore, there is soft vanilla and wood shavings, moist sultana cake, prune, apricot, moist peat, wood smoke and salted almonds.
    • Taste
Oily, coating, maybe a tad less expressive than the nose, but especially the sherry influences, smoke, wood shavings, soft fruit are present, along with the Talisker trademark of pepper.
    • Finish
Quite long, slightly drying on pepper, with wood smoke, hay, almonds and only a hint of fruit.

  20. Snerik scored this whisky 86 points Expert Junior

Not quite as peaty as the new generation of Talisker. Rather more elegant and finely presented. Lovely stuff!
    • Nose
Salt liquorish, raisins, some peat, lemon peal, lemon candy, mango and oregano. The nose is very clean and expressive.
    • Taste
Slightly bitter, that liquorish note persists! And there’s some raisin notes as well…
    • Finish
Medium long finish, more peat coming through here. And those Ooh-so-very-Talisker liquorish notes mixed with raisins and lemon. Really pleasant finish!

  21. Ivynor scored this whisky 87 points Expert Senior

    Very good whisky
    • Nose
greedy, raisin cake, candied orange, milk chocolate, plum. Quite lively and fresh.
    • Taste
Syrup for cough, plants. moderately fatty, on sugar, iodine, currants, plum, and candied citrus fruits.
    • Finish
The Talisker paw with peppery notes. Sugar, plants and orange zest

  22. Blo scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Compared to the regular 10yo, this one is rounder, softer, with more suggary and fruity notes. Less brutal but also less Talisker. On the other hand it becomes also easier of access. Hence the same score.
    • Nose
Almost no difference from the regular 10yo at the opening of the bottle. Then with aeration the sherry becomes stronger. So, there is the Talisker marks: Pepper, light peat, exotic fruits (mangos), plus softer notes, with some coffee notes and chocolate.
    • Taste
Rounder, softer, less agressive than the regular 10yo. This extra year of maturation in Olorosso casks brought some sweetness to it. The Sherry influence is here stronger than on the nose, with more sugarry and sweet feeling, alongside the classic Talisker aromas.
    • Finish
Long, on peppery and chilli notes. Not much differences here.

    • Nose

    • Taste
medium smoke, sweetness, sherry, some pepper, a hint of oak, dry
    • Finish

What a good whisky. Glad to pay the money. Recommended.
    • Nose
No water: sweetness of flower perfume. Figs. Cinnamon. Carried by a briny smokiness.
With water: smokiness upfront. Then sweet of heather and cookies (Liga Evergreen).
    • Taste
Complex. Sweet, sour, salty. Sweetness of tangerines, sourness of oranges, salty/briny smoke. Maritime, not medicinal.
    • Finish
Long, long finish, of all the above.

Delicate and smooth as well as fiery. It goes hand in hand.

    Tasting with Armin Fuchs.
    • Nose
sweet Sherry, dark grapes, plum, smoke/spicy smoke, sweet compote, cherry, caramel, custard, brine, stormy coast in autumn, real Talisker, peat, toffee, dark milk chocolate, sultanas, milk coffee
    • Taste
first smoke - then sweet fruits, slag with chocolate, warming, cask is arriving, long development, cheerful freshness like the sauce of fruit salad, like after consumption of noble milk chocolate, just a little pepper, smooth despite fire, peat and some smoke, sweet and sour lemon, ripe peach, caramel, sherbet
    • Finish
Strong on sage (sage candy) and cough syrup. Hints of Absinthe indeed. Long, dry, fruits (plum, cherry, ripe peach), carrot, apple peel, peat, something rough and smoked, milk chocolate

Sherry is here, iodine and this characteristic smoky peat too. Less \ "characteristic \" than the Talisker 10yo but not uninteresting.
    • Nose
Iodine, smoke and the sea are still there. We also feel fruit. Less powerful but warmer than the 10 yo OB.
    • Taste
Fruit and sherry come first, followed by iodine and spices. The slightly smoked peat follows but very slightly.
    • Finish
Rather sweet and moderately long. Fruity with a big return of iodine and smoke along the length. A note of bitterness a little sickening spoils a little late.

Arrived at about half the bottle I can give a nice 90 to this scotch: I find it very pleasant, balanced, a pleasant and well-built drink. The body is remarkable, maybe a few degrees more 'would have made it exceptional but in short, we are on high levels anyway. I find it easy to drink and perfectly balanced, there are the sweet and sour components but well built by expert hands. A good drink that I recommend to anyone, the bottle does not cost too much and is enjoyed in every milliliter. Slainte!

  46. Jonkers scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

This whisky is almost perfectly balanced. A very fine digestive.
    • Nose
Tingling, very light peat smoke. Sherry, some chocolate and raisins. Hints of leather and barbeque meat.
    • Taste
A little bit peat. Burnt sugar. Very sweet but also peppery and spicy. Sweetness rules.
    • Finish
Sweet finish. Smoke returns and remains strong presence, together with a little sherry.

  47. D3US scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

A very different Talisker expression, but I like it a lot. Great sweetness from the sherry adds something new to the peppery, peaty dram we know. Good stuff.
    • Nose
Chocolate sweetness, caramel, sherry, raisins, leathery and coffee. Very mild for a Talisker. The peat is there, but lightly so. Hugely sweet vanilla, cooked fruits and malt.
    • Taste
Peat smoke, sure, but again subtle. Very sweet in the middle, and quite dry as well. The sherry is there, but so are the chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits and juicy oak.
    • Finish
Ah yes, the finish is unmistakably Talisker. Warming peat smoke, with that vanilla and malty note to guide it through to the lengthy aftertaste.

  48. m884 scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

Nose: Sherry, peat, sweet and smokey, pepper, lemon, sweet in the background, a bit winey

    Mouth: cherry, smoke, peat, fruity

Finish: sherry, sweet, sugary, wine again

Comments: A bit too wine-finish like for my taste, also quite sweet. Still very competent.

  49. Willie JJ scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

    Lovely whisky.
    • Nose
Hugely sweet and fruity. Dundee cake, syrup and mango. Oily with light elastoplast notes.
    • Taste
Sweet crunchy boiled fruit sweets. Lightly peppery, mouthcoating and delicious.
    • Finish
Long peppery and ashy with lots of sweet returns

  50. Drochaid scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

The 2000 vintage of Talisker`s ever popular and quite excellent

Distillers Edition. Double matured, as are all of the range, with the

finish being in Amoroso casks, a sweetened Oloroso sherry, adding some

sweet and juicy fruit to Talisker smoke and maritime edge.

  51. mbinder scored this whisky 88 points Expert Junior

smoky in the nose. this continues on the tongue, but where a little bit of spiciness is added, which then intensifies in a long finish, peppery, chilli and some salt.
