Unbelievable that no rum cask was involved, it reminds me a lot of a very rummy Bruichladdich (ID 24178).
    • Nose
Rum with a dirty, sulphury edge. Papaya and overripe gold kiwi.
    • Taste
Papaya, raisin, egg liquor, gold kiwi and apricot
    • Finish
Papaya, kiwi, rum and baked banana.

Frutiness in abundances, cooked apples, camphor, chalk, tropical jungle after a raining morning, loads of trees, smell of wood burning. Some coffee and milk chocolate after a few sip. One of the most complex nose.
    • Taste
      91 91
Avalanche of awesome fruit sweetness, thick and syrupy, cough syrup. Nice burnt exotic wood, with the wood scent ligering with the fruits. Full bodied and intense fruits.
    • Finish
      92 92
Extremely long, almost never end. Mouth watering, with lots of fruits like melon, lemon and lime. Magnificent.

This was really the one most people were looking forward to trying, as it got raving reviews from some whisky folk (Serge at WF, for example), in addition it’s not cheap dram, so this was a great opportunity to try a few drops of glory.

Nose: Very fruity with a lot of red grapefruit, Kiwi, Melon, apples and lemons, then some more exotics – lychee and guava, a wonderful fruit salad of exotic ripe goodness, with a touch of maltiness, and sugar.

Palate: Grapefruit with a lot of Spice boarding on Tropical mix nectar with Melon, Papaya and pineapple (dried).

    Finish: Fruity and exotic. yumm

    • Nose
Old style, nutty and herbal, tea, old leather and coconut? Very fine and smooth oak, light pineapple not like other casks in the same vintage, very creamy.
    • Taste
A lot of floral oak, apple and pineapple, intense espresso at the beginning, too oaky maybe?
    • Finish
      Long espresso finish.

+ H2O: gets bitter, so better not water 01.04.2017 93
    • Nose
F: light gold very nice old bottle flavor - wine gum
    • Taste
the fruits of the 60's! Alcohol audible, but no wood. Surprising for a forty-year-old.
    • Finish
medium length, so the aromas of the 60's

Nose: as exotic as the good 1976 that I could taste. Passion, guava, mango, grapefruit and all the tintouin ....

Mouth: We take the same and we start again ... Exotic fruit salad very fresh and ripe, pink grapefruit juicy and sweet, a little spice to meet the whole. Alcohol is perfectly integrated, no need to add water.

Finish: long, fruity and bitter (grapefruit), and slightly tannic.

A very big Benriach, exotic to hell. Dangerously drinkable.

    without water:

    superb (91-92p)

with water: what we have now is a bad copy of a jamaican single cask rum (long pond!), still nice to drink but somehow ruined (87-88p)
with water and time/air working on it:

recovering, getting better again, but still far away from undiluted (89p)
