Nice nose, improving up from nose towards finish. Surprised by the nice flavours at a lower ABV. Good one!
    • Nose
      88 88
Old library, leather, honey, dried fruits, stewed apples. Brambles, figs, hazelnuts. A faint smoky aspect (which is very nice!) Walnuts and a touch of menthol.
    • Taste
      88 88
Delivers on the expectations from the nose: leather, honey, ripe apples, figs. Stewed apples (jammy), very drinkable. A bit of spices emerging.
    • Finish
      89 89
Long finish, stewed and dried fruits. Honey and again the stewed apples. Little bit of wood and peppery but all within good limits and adding a layer to this nice whisky.

A really nice sherry malt that doesn't hide its age. The wood notes almost make it look older than it is.
    • Nose
At first, the sherry was almost a matter of course. Then I immediately have blueberry, cranberry and plum dachi. Then it gets spicier. Almost herbal. Moist forest floor. Forest honey. Nutmeg.
    • Taste
Much sweeter than the nose. Forest honey again, grape juice. Then the wild berries again. Not too sweet plum compote with cinnamon. The sweetness decreases. Balsamic. Chocolate now follows, which gradually darkens.
    • Finish
Coffee. Chocolate. Walnut. Hints of juniper. Pleasant dryness.

I really like this profile - my favorite Glenrothes from the 60s have basically the same profile - just a bit fresher and more intense - anyhow this one is really good too
    • Nose
Fruity, cooked oranges, xmas spice, cinnamon, old wood, but still pretty fresh - typical profile of old Glenrothes - great
    • Taste
Oily, creamy, sweet fruits, oranges, hints of dried fruits, fine oak wood, spices, pepper, nuts, litle tobacco, chocolate too? - looks like the profile is perceived the same among many people - very good
    • Finish
Medium long, warm, fruity, spices, a bit more on grapefruits

Wow, what an old drop. Old and intense woody aromas, dark and heavy fruit, leather and tobacco, all these components show the high age of Glenrothes. A fine and dainty whisky, a dream!
    • Nose
A pinch of coffee powder and intense dark berries dominate the first impression. Old wood flavors mingle with lightly roasted nuts, from the dark and old fruits slowly grows an intense orange aroma. Sweet malt and a hint of vanilla permeates the now intense sherry, caramel and spicy notes play together. The salivation is massively stimulated, a hint of leather and tobacco flashes, sweetness and now honey dominate the nose.
    • Taste
At the first sip, old and spicy wood beats on the taste buds. A refreshing fruit note is heavier and goes relatively quickly into subtle sharpness. Pleasant pepper and a hint of burnt and dry walnut come from the spicy wood. The second sip of a spice mixture starts fully, again creates a pleasant pepper aroma, orange peel show. Dry leather and old tobacco leaves try to push through the wood. Dry wood and more nut flavor leave the taste in the finish go over.
    • Finish
The pleasant sharpness still exudes a cozy warmth. Old and dry logs give off fine spice, dried raisins and dates rise from the wood. For a long time, the finish exudes a chubby mouthfeel and a fine wooden aroma, a wonderful old walnut note slowly fades out.

Gorgeous! It must be an old sherry man! A prime example. If he had a few more percent more, I would be in heaven. Sweet, fruity, old and tasty but also really complex.
    • Nose
A mild, very sherry-stressed start. Lots of sweetness, honey, raisins, dried figs, plum jam, plum jam, milk chocolate, comparatively little oak, subtle nutmeg, cinnamon, sherry, very sweet malt, from time to time flash herbs, orange juice, now it is spicy, the wood shows something more, some mocha, tobacco, that's what makes me for an old whisky, the migration of flavors, now again a blow of fruit, especially ripe blueberries, then leather again
    • Taste
very sweet, at the same time sour orange sweet juice - freshly pressed, blueberries, fruit gums, honey, vanilla, malt, mild, oily, now light oak, malt, milk chocolate, great! In the second sip more leather and tobacco
    • Finish
Sweet oak, milk coffee, chocolate, berry fruits (blueberries), cherries, cinnamon, malt, subtle herbs, trail mix, covers the mouth, very subtle smoke ?, medium long to long finish

The nose retains a good sweetness with plenty of barley and

toasty cereal notes. A little balsa and malt extract with a touch of juicy

raisins and toasted oak. The palate is quite smooth and silken in delivery with

notes of creamy toffee sweetness, a little mocchaccino and juicy sultanas. There

is a gentle smoke, lingering with obedience. The finish is long and toasty with

    oaken spice.
