In the nose a typical, simple Lsddie. In the mouth, unfortunately, a bit flat at the first sip. But that will be better. He is then really delicious and tasty. 81 points.
    • Nose
Creamy vanilla pastry with lemon abrasion, a lot of light in the direction of cheesecake. Also the Laddie typical cheese is there, if very discreet. With time comes spicy oak to the fore, also discreetly. The nose is very sweet and soft.
    • Taste
Sweet and spicy. Mild lemons and a little vanilla here too. The mouthfeel, however, is a bit thin in contrast to the nose. The dessert is malty and sweet with a slightly sour citrus twist. More sips become more intense and no longer seem thin. Pastries are stronger - Scottish shortbread, slightly salted.
    • Finish
      Medium long and sweet.

      Blind tasting:

Gently and easily medically. Little compote. Yes, the nose already has something. The fruit comes out well.
    • Taste
Beautiful discreet oak ... somehow complex ... great fruit and sweetness. Creamy. Long-lasting. Some smoke. Drinkable.
    • Finish
      Strong with oak and sweetness.

    Outstanding for his age
    • Nose
Vanilla, lemon, pastries, a little bit of milk acidity, sea breeze, melons
    • Taste
touch of ginger, honey, malty sweetness, tarte au citron, orange candy, oak comes into play
    • Finish
candied ginger, light wood, burned sugar, oranges, pinch of salt, pleasantly long finish, a whiff of cigarette smoke at the end

Somehow ambivalent, at first very soft and then powerful. Beautifully maritime, fresh and fruity at the same time. There are overripe bright fruits reminiscent of peaches, oranges and pears. In addition, I find a subtle herbal note, cereals, significant oak and a hint of smoke. There is a lot to discover here for the age.

Here you can see now that the malt is still quite young. Clear ginger and white pepper paired with a pleasant honey sweetness. The barrels have left a strong influence, because on the tongue, the malt is now a bit bitter. Orange scrub maybe. Again there are fermented fruits. Also black tea and the aforementioned herbal notes.

Medium length with pepper, lots of wood and slightly sour fruit notes.

It tastes more mature than the age would suggest. Impressive whisky, very tasty and matured. A good statement from Laddie
    • Nose
Malty, some oranges, raisins, caramel, some salty, sometimes slightly sour from ripe fruit, dried apricots, some herbs from the oak and maybe a hint of smoke?
    • Taste
strong onset, malty here too, ripe oranges, a little honey, caramel, a little salty, dried fruit, especially raisins and dried apricots
    • Finish
the maltiness and the oranges remain, in addition still salty and at the very end also a few tannins.

A vatting of bourbon casks with a little sherry wood thrown in. No finishing/enhancing this time, it’s plain and pure Bruichladdich. This baby was obviously distilled in 2001 and will soon hit most shelves. Colour: gold. Nose: what strikes first is a fresh cleanliness that’s not without reminding us of the old 15 from the early 1990s. It’s also rather more maritime than other recent Bruichladdichs, with whiffs of sea breeze and then touches of lemon balm and pine sap and moss. Also a little vanilla and then more lemon zests. It’s maybe not the deepest nose ever but the freshness is impressive. Mouth: well, it’s more a ‘palate whisky’, because the attack is quite fantastic, very lightly salty but with a lot of vanilla fudge, barley sugar, icing sugar and orange drops. Lollipops? Excellent fruitiness, perfect body and a lot of pleasure. Finish: long, still vibrantly lemony, with a little more oak, pepper and ginger in the aftertaste. Comments: this whisky is a pleasure to see – and to taste. In my opinion this is Bruichladdich’s true milestone whisky. Together with Lagavulin 16, I’m afraid it’s my now become my favourite ‘entry-level’ Islayer but beware, this is dangerously drinkable because of the exciting freshness and citrusy notes. Highly recommended, and it’s not expensive at all. SGP:641 - 88 points.
