This is simply a magnificent Caol Ila, even at this young age. Feisty,
clean and powerful! I cannot stress enough how much of an underappreciated
Ileach this is. It truly deserves more attention.
    • Nose
It has a very clean nose on ashes, pipe tobacco, wet stones, oysters,
lemon juice and seaweeds. It reminds me a bit of the 10 Year Old from A.D.
Rattray that I had about a year ago. Very accessible, despite the high ABV.
    • Taste
On the palate, this peaty fellow explodes, releases all the coastal
elements and barely giving the citrus any chance to surface. Very feisty and
typically Islay. Peatheads will love this. Adding water is totally unneccesary.
    • Finish
The finish is nice and long, smoky and ends in a briny twist. Wonderful.

This young drop has a beautiful character. The smoke does not destroy anything at all, but is quite a team player.
    • Nose
Slight peat fires glow, lemon juice, salty sea breeze of sweet swaths. A lightness and elegance beyond compare.
    • Taste
It raise peat and brine, the citrus fruits remain in the game.
    • Finish
The aforementioned flavors increase explosively to a great finale, which swings very pleasant and slow in the mouth.

A splendid Caol Ila, probably a year or two younger seeming than it is, but none the worse for that.
    • Nose
Delightful coal smoke and lemon zest. The underlying barley sugar is overwhelmed by the salty sea shells. The fruit becomes softer and less citrus with water.
    • Taste
Intensely salty, bitter lemons and sharp sugar counterpoint to the salt. Water softens the palate, but sends spices flying off to crash into the roof of your mouth.
    • Finish
Huge return of the coal smoke at the end. Only the lemon survives it. Water calms the coal smoke and leaves room for the malt to come through.

On the first day of 2012, btw Happy New Year to You all, I tried this whisky and it`s realy great. The taste is fantastic and in fact, I didn`t realise that this was so extermely nice. Tasting notes will follow in due time, so don`t worry
