Very good whisky. Would be clearly above 90 points, if taste and finish would be as good as the nose.
    • Nose
Wow !!! Warming and intensively fruity at the beginning with tons of vanilla fudge - a superb nose, changing a lot. Sweet, aromatic, honey, orange juice ("Capri Sonne"), sandal wood and cream pie. After some minutes some herbal notes are coming up (green tea).
    • Taste
Smooth - lighter, dryer and less fruity than expected. A little dispppointing after the nose. More on notes of green tea plus orange blossoms, vanilla and white rum on the top with some ginger and old wood below.
    • Finish
Light and quite short but totally pleasant.

More or less exotic fruits (bananas, apricots, mango, etc.), some menthol, then vanilla from the bourbon barrel, some oak. After a bit tart and furry on the palate, but always a wonderful balance between fruit and a bitterness of barrel. Very complex.

The different strata (fruits, aromatic plants, roasted notes) are perfectly layered. The whole is clear and expressive. Very good and very fresh and lively for an old whisky.
    • Nose
Fruity, tangy and fresh: kiwi, pomegranate, banana still a little green. Vanilla Frangipane, coffee and praline ice creams. Menthol puffs, which extend on notes of sage, laurel.
    • Taste
The same thing. The herbaceous notes encase the acidulous fruity on a more greedy, creamy and pastry bottom. A little white pepper.
    • Finish
Medium length, on the same cocktail. Persistence on coffee with milk.

    Friendly.
    • Nose
Complex, tropical fruits, oak, herbs, some spices.

With water: becomes a little confectioner
    • Taste
More bitter than expected, fruits (mostly orange), spices (ginger, pepper), woody notes, some fresh herbs.

      With water: softer.
    • Finish
Medium, on the orange and the wood.

nosing and the palate shown the tropical fruity flavor are all good...Only one thing to complain is the finish is a little too short. Or it will become an excellent old bourbon whisky!

Tastes like sweet lemonade, so dangerously drinkable. Good cask selection by the boys of Whiskybase.
    • Nose
What a lovely nose! Lots of tropical fruit. Thinned peaches, pineapples and apricots. Vanilla. Some oaky notes as well.
    • Taste
Oranges and tangerines. Papaya and kiwi. Did I forget any other fruit? Very juicy and smooth. Sweet barley and cinnamon. Slightly spiced at the end.
    • Finish
      Medium long. Gingery. Bitter-sweetness.

    Balance:  Impeccable ( 24/25)

Wow this is a very nice whisky, I can smell it all day, while the taste is nice but somewhat simple.
    • Nose
Carpenters shop, wow that is a lot of wood and sawdust notes.  Malt works its way through too, a little more air brings out citrus, and strong vanilla. Wow this is interesting... are those strawberries?  I could go on, but lets just say this: ( 25/25).
    • Taste
Vanilla, and lots of malt.  A lot of cereal grains with a touch of honey.  Incredibly delicious, while it feels complex, I honestly think all the tastes boil down to those main tastes. (21/25)
    • Finish
A touch of wood tannins, an almost velvety like feeling coats the mouth and throat, still very very sweet, like a slightly watered down honey, and a nice touch of wild flowers again bringing up honey. ( 23/25)

The nose starts with lots of honey and fruit and then you have orange and cream. But the weirdest comes later ... Blue cheese, such as Roquefort. The taste is in balance with the nose, but I also taste red apples, vanilla, oak. And then there is the blue cheese again. Very strong. But there is a nice balance between bitterness and sweetness. After a time a little freshness of mint. A very strange but very tasty whisky.

  15. Sonett scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

All in all a whisky worth the money
    • Nose
A slightly oily nose with tendencies of fruit cocktail in syrup, honey, hay , herbs, a light touch of cinnamon and oak
    • Taste
The age really comes to the taste with a rather dominant oak, Behind the oak also vanilla, white pepper, white fruits, almonds ad fresh acorns.
    • Finish
Medium long starting with fading oak moving over to bitter almonds and then finally a sweet vanilla ending

I tried a sister cask to this one recently and this is the better of the two, especially on the nose. Still, you have to like your whisky woody to fully appreciate this.
    • Nose
The nose reveals the age. Lots of linseed oil, paint, tropical fruits and thick caramel toffee. Leafy trees in the summer. Absolutely wonderful. A couple of drops of water brings out some stewed white fruit.
    • Taste
Very oaky on the palate. Most of the fruit and sweetness is submerged into the oak. Still there is an initial sweetness before it turns into a musty bung cloth affair. The sweetness lasts a bit longer with a couple of drops of water.
    • Finish
It's hard to escape from the over-oaking at this end of the dram. Musty, dusty and dry. Water releases some menthol and eucalyptus.

Great nose and nice mango in taste. Finish too short

  18. markjedi1 scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

A wonderful Strathmill, to say the least, but with a cost of about 170
    EUR somewhat expensive.
    • Nose
Yep, the nose is bulls eye! Very fruity and creamy on oranges and honey.
A touch of cinnamon. Pineapple on the grill, baked banana, sprinkled with some
orange juice. A couple of mint twigs. This is very good indeed!
    • Taste
On the palate, unfortunately I might add, it turns slightly bitter. Not
from the wood. Rather grapefruit or a lime tea bag that has been left in the
cup too long. A lot of ginger and a whiff of white pepper. Slightly creamy, but
less than on the nose. Having said that, it remains very good with a round
      mouthfeel.
    • Finish
The finish is fairly long on the same aromas. A lot of citrus and
      spices. Bittersweet death.

  19. WhiskyNotes scored this whisky 90 points Expert Senior

It may be less stellar than its sister cask by The Nectar of the Daily Drams, but on its own it's still a great dram from an otherwise underrated distillery.
    • Nose
Very fruity and honeyed, although maybe a tad less thick and buttery than the Daily Dram version. Big hints of sweet orange juice. A little pineapple, less banana this time. Some vanilla cake. Over time it also shows some softly herbal, "green" notes and mint.
    • Taste
Still fruity but again it's less warm with more sourish and slightly bitter fruits (oranges, tangerine). Hints of green tea. More oak spices as well (especially ginger).
    • Finish
Medium long on oranges and lemons. Hints of tea with some warming oak.

An absolutely very nice whisky with a bitterish bite, then getting sweeter with a soft finish. Thanks CJ and MB
