  1. TheWhiskySloth scored this whisky 91 points Expert Junior

This is a great example of syrupy fruits and wood in perfect harmony. Any longer in the cask and it would have been spoilt but this was lovely.
    • Nose
Wood lacquers, planed oak floorboards, sweet fruit and maple syrups, lots of wood spices but all pleasantly balanced. Cooked pear, apples and peaches in sponge cake.
    • Taste
Thick syrupy mouthfeel, tropical fruit juices, “all vitamin” drinks, passion fruit, sponge cakes and drying, peppery spices.
    • Finish
      Fruity, spicy and medium long.

Very focused nose on fruit syrup.
Banana, pineapple, mango, peach, green apple. Dates.
Honey, cloves, licorice. Burnt wood and molasses.
      Oily leather.
      Light fresh mint.

With aeration, exoticism and dried fruits take up more and more space.
    • Taste

In the mouth it is much more exotic.
Mango, passion fruit, noble wood, wax, strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, green apple, cinnamon, dark chocolate, cranberry, cream, dust, raisin, cooked wine.
Everything mixes up and brings incredible pleasure.
    • Finish
      91 91
Slightly dry finish on the wood, pineapple rind, exotic fruits and cocoa powder.

I remember being more thrilled by this one a year back. Once again me or the sample ? Anyway, another very good Tomatin 1976.
    • Nose
Exotic and yellow stewed fruits (bananas, peaches, apricots), dried fruits (raisins). Honey, spices, light varnish notes.
    • Taste
Exotic fruits, forest fruits, raisins, spices, leathery notes, oak.
    • Finish
      Medium, fruity.

The nose is promising but lacks a bit of pep, it is the alcohol that comes out first and it takes a long aeration to be more aggressive. The exotic fruit / dried fruit blend is present but weak.
In the mouth it's something else. An explosion of exotic fruits, associated with a light dry wood with hints of varnish, old furniture, dried fruit, leather (besides the empty sample the next day evokes a masculine perfume)
the finish is long, on the exotic fruits still this leather and a slight dryness not unpleasant.
It has an undeniable classy side.

    • Finish
Again very fruity and long with al sorts of forest fruits.

    Austere nose, dry and dusty.

Mouth of old marble with a layer of dust, wood, and shriveled fruit.

Finale on dry wood and exotic fruits.

Nose: more aggressive than in the sample. We still have a lot of fruit, as well as a sherry veil: old wood very classy, spices. Red and black fruits but also peaches, nectarines. A little vanilla. Very nice nose.
Mouth: as I thought that the nose was on the fruits of our home, so there is an explosion of exotic fruits. From the highest level! Superb! The Sherry then reapplies some grapes with leather. The wood is present but stands in the background.
Final: always on these exotic fruits. A little short.

Do not dilute it, it loses concentration in the mouth.

Superb palace, really great, it is not often that we are entitled to such exotic fruits. Nose just a little indented, too bad.
