I had this to say goodbye to the old year and say hello to the new .  Also  raised it to absent friends , the perfect dram for the occasion .
    • Nose
Malted barley , pear drops , banana sandwiches , tangerine , really pleasant and full of nostalgic things I can't quite put my finger on .
    • Taste
Again the pear drops sweets , some fruit like ripe melon , peeled apple and apricots . This is a well balanced dram and it stays together nicely .
    • Finish
A lovely medium floral finish with dolly mixtures on the death .

Green bananas and light grapes on the nose
Brazil nut taste, low fruitiness, creamy
Trying it makes sense, but you don't need a whole bottle of it.

The listed price of almost £400 must be highly inflated, way over what I paid.

A delicate and mellow lowland that I enjoy more and more by each glass.
    • Nose
Sweet and gentle floral nose. First thing that is most striking to me is tangerines. Glazed banana cake. Cereals. Malt grows with time in the glass.
    • Taste
I find more malt on the initial taste than on the nose. Evolves into grassy notes. A very good mix of fruits that's so well mixed that I find it hard to separate them.
    • Finish
A good medium lenght, slightly drying with noticable oak.

This was a sample courtesy of Peatbogger . I have had a Rosebank before , The Flora and fauna bottling so this was a pleasant revisit to this lost distillery .

Distilled in March 1991, bottled in April 2007. So a 16-year-old. But for some reason the site administrators refuse to put an age statement since the age is not specifically mentioned on the bottle... Tasted 20/04/2016 in a line-up of closed distilleries.
    • Nose
Malty, very floral, some faint marzipan sweetness and mango.
    • Taste
Malty again with some grassiness. Orange/tangerine, faint butterscotch (but it's diluted too much to be enjoyed completely), anise.
    • Finish
Mediumshort, a bit disappointing actually, with anise coming to the fore, almost menthol.

    Rosebank 1991-2007, 16 years, 40% alc.
    Bottler: Gordon & MacPhail (CC)
    Expansion: Refill Sherry Hogshead
Region: Lowlands, Scotland Special feature: closed in 1993, is becoming increasingly rare! Nose: Light and mildly fruity, grassy. Aromas of flowering meadow appear, followed by citrus fruits. Grapefruit and limes. This first impression is paired with sweet notes of malt and wheat. Palate: Malty and sweet, lots of cereals and grassy aromas. The citrus fruits return. The oak is not yet deep, but noticeable with a slightly bitter spice. Overall easy and tasty. Finish: Medium to long, very dry and a lot of grain. The citrus fruit is now almost gone, malt and oak for it all the stronger. Conclusion: Mild and pleasant, a typical single malt from the Lowlands. Unfortunately only a little complex. 82/100 points (tasted 2015 - in auctions about 250 €)
