A nice surprise in the Big Peat package that Nethar sent me by post. Great lacos. To thank Nethar for the opportunity to taste this beautiful whisky, it was really an experience.
    • Nose
Dense, strongly sherry, honey-sweet. Leather, sweet wood, lots of chocolate, spices, Belgian pralines, a bit windy. (90 b)
    • Taste
From the first moment, the taste is luxurious. Sweet warm spice, clear influence of sherry. Due to age, I was expecting a monster, but Bunnahabhain was surprised by the sophistication and distinctive elegance. Chocolate, raisins, liquor from exotic wood ... just great. This is being drunk alone. I did not drink, and it was not even necessary. (94 b)

I must say that I have been going to the opportunity to try this whisky for several years. Yes, why dissemble, all the major decisions of life were made faster ... A number of factors prevented this: at first they could not find a sufficient number of people who share both the experience and the costs. After that, this opportunity disappeared for years. Next, my friend offered to buy back the bottle, but while I was driving for it, another opportunity arose. After that, she turned out to be phantom, for the same reasons. I began to ask all my friends to sign up for a tasting, I began to invite them. So we gathered a quorum and the owner of the bottle released the Genie. And it was not a desert, but the Gardens of Babylon in their sunset. If you can imagine a deep, long autumn. Fallen leaves, brown veined maple leaves, split chestnuts, humus. And now I will offer an analogy of a different order: the earthworm crawls, as if inside a tunnel, in the narrowest place of the leaf, curled up from this long autumn: notes of decay of fallen leaves, humus and dust are quite strong. The taste is such that you want to dive in and punch a barrel with your head: dried figs, prunes and raisins sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon. The finish is diluted with water with dominant oak bitterness.

    Baileys Bunna
Murray McDavid is the property of Aceo Ltd for a few years now. They took it over from Mark Reynier, former owner of Bruichladdich Distillery. This is an older bottling. The cask was selected by Mark himself: a Bunna 1978!

Juicy nose on dark and sweet fruit like plums, dades and rum raisins. Just a hint of peat in the background. Might even be woodsmoke. Baileys cream liqueur and espresso. Milk chocolate. This is grand yet soft.

Very rich on the palate. Again all the dark fruit from the nose, upholstered with loads of oak: nutmeg, black pepper, ginger. A little bitter note appears, but makes for a near perfect balance. There is also a clear note of wine or port in there, without being able to identify the red fruit. It’s more about blackcurrants in a jam, with lots of spices. Cigar leaves. And finally a very light, but unmistakable salty note. Delicious!

A bitter note appears in the long and warm finish.

What a delicious Bunna. But… today you’ll have to cough up around 600 EUR for a bottle, if you can still find it.

Aroma : iodine, a little "zhivotinki" and minerality, spices, dried fruits (raisins, prunes, dates), jam, coffee, milk chocolate, cream, a little varnish. Great! The taste is rich, sweet: obvious wine tones, salt, berries, dried fruits (prunes, dates, figs), chocolate, cream, oak with bitter taste. Delicious! The aftertaste is long, astringent-oak: spices, prunes, dates, pastries, creams; in the development of wine notes, berries, tobacco. Conclusion . Interesting batch. Sherry and port. It turned out very attractive whisky. Curious game of wine shades, chocolate and oak. Perfectly complex, consistent. The right fortress. There is nothing to complain about. Very good! The score is 93 (n23t24f23b23).
