Present quickly, initially tolerated a few drops of water. Later also neat to enjoy. Perfect price-performance ratio.
Very nice and pronounced fruitiness with honey sweetness and vanilla. Simply delicious, elegant and uncomplicated enjoyment. A pleasant surprise from Brittany.
For me, ex-bourbon barrels, which should probably be first refill.
    • Nose
      87 87
Lots of fruit with ripe apples and vanilla-honey sweetness, some citrus and hay.
    • Taste
      87 87
creamy-sweet and very fruity, with pleasant spice, vanilla, honey and a little chocolate nuts. Mouthwash, good as an aperitif.
    • Finish
      85 85
Weaker: Short to almost medium-long finish, warming, becoming a little bitter. No smoky notes, oak noticeable, but restrained. Becomes drier and spicier

Worth trying once for the curiosity of what French whisky is. A bit stingy but quite pleasant on the nose
    • Nose
      Floral, sour, green apple
    • Taste
      Creamy, oak, pepper, spices
    • Finish
      Medium, woody, bitter

    • Nose
      82 82
Fairly expressive nose, lots of vanilla from the barrel, a touch of bourbon (fairly new barrel?) But not too varnished. Spices (cinnamon, pepper), a little pear, malted cereals.
    • Taste
      78 78
Rough and astringent palate. The whisky is too young and too marked by the barrel. A little too much board and cereal. Traces of spices, green apple. Moderately integrated alcohol. Quite dry.
    • Finish
      80 80
More balanced, more peppery finish, bitter cocoa. More interesting.

    Blind tasting:
Nose: freshly filled, light and fresh, citrus fruits, alcohol clearly noticeable, later spicy grain note, cereals,
Taste: sweet on the tongue at first, peppery start, spicy, sweetness / dryness,
Finish: bittersweet, light, some citrus, quite short
Conclusion: unbalanced alcohol not well integrated, I suspect a non-Scottish bottling> 46%, nothing for my palate 66/100

Conclusion: There are better things from this distillery!
    • Nose
      75 75
      Floral and an adhesive note
    • Taste
      68 68
First nutty, then flips to a burning sharpness.
    • Finish
      68 68
The sharpness goes and a furry feeling remains.

  12. Krisladdich scored this whisky 72 points Expert Junior

A very promising onset in the nose where the strong alcoholic notes hardly disturb, but rather convey freshness. In the taste but very alcoholic and hardly fruity sweet. In the finish then a little better.
    • Nose
In the start peach, orange peel, a light cinnamon note and vanilla. Overall in the nose very fruity and sweet. But always with a very strong alcoholic presence. This gives the whole but a not unpleasant freshness.
    • Taste
Very spicy, peppery. The fruity sweetness is there, can not prevail against the sharpness. Overall, very "schnapsig".
    • Finish
It burns on the tongue. After that, it is initially sweet and the end again pretty fruity, the sharpness is only very slowly after. Short to medium.

    ... no one needs somehow
    • Nose
a lot of malt, fresh farmhouse bread, green apples, lemon, vanilla, honey, ginger, a hint of dark chocolate; clear strong aromas
    • Taste
exactly the same: a lot of malt, fresh farmhouse bread, green apples, lemon, vanilla, honey, ginger, plus a lot of dark chocolate, chocolate porridge, a little pear
    • Finish
very short, spicy, now comes the ginger to the front, the farmer's bread now gets a dark, slightly burnt crust, minimal residual sweetness and a lot of malt ... left behind the taste of stale beer

Conclusion: a simple, easy bolt. For the initial level of whisky is very good result. Rating: 80 (n20, t19, f20, b21)
    • Nose
The fragrance is filled with candied and fermented berry nuances, with tones of honey, creamy caramel and young bark in the distance.
    • Taste
Flavored are candies, sugar powder, a drop of lemon juice, white bread and vanilla.
    • Finish
Finish of medium duration, caramel-candy, with shades of burnt sugar, hazelnut and oak. In the end, almost invisible phenols show up.

  16. Andytka3 scored this whisky 74 points Connoisseur

Light on nose with soft honey with candy floss, classic bourbon oak of vanilla and sweet spices. Plenty of body at a good 46%, gentle and balance, light and easy with not much fault to pick. Medium length, slightly raw spirit are felt, warming and dry.

A pleasant malt whisky that could have come from Scotland – no doubt! This is an unmistakably ex-Bourbon matured whisky, without any bells and whistles. I cannot detect overt youthfulness either, so I’m not sure why they have not just put the actual age on it. For less than 30€, nobody would blink if they saw an 8 or 6 on the label IMHO.
    • Nose
Fresh and fragrant apples – granny smith presumably. Cereal, biscuit cake, and even a faint cumin note.
    • Taste
Malty and sweet! Caramel and pear compote, apple pie and toffee, perhaps even honey. Typically ex-Bourbon!
    • Finish
Medium-short. No bitterness, but a fading sweetness of herbal tea and toffee.

  18. LiquidThoughts scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

Stop really not as bad as you might think, a few cheap leg notes but promising in terms of the distillery.
    • Nose
Young apple brandy in the nose, slight Esthernoten, white gummy berries and grapes, Pappig but also beautiful fruity
    • Taste
Red and green apple, light malt, light honey, a little flowery, still really fruit schnapps, a little bit of light, fruity rum, but especially with apple flavors, vanilla, fresh and fruity
    • Finish
Pretty short to medium, the fruitiness and a slightly cheap alcoholic and sweet legume remain

  19. mullos scored this whisky 72 points Expert Senior

    blind tasting

In the nose reveals a youth, a hint of sherry, rather Obstler, a lot of sweetness, cookies, grass ... very pleasant, since everything is very discreet, no alcohol bizzles.

In the mouth, the sweetness prevails, some rubber gloves, now you can feel the alcohol with some pepper, some artificial fruit notes, jelly fruits. In the finish very short.

Conclusion: It is pleasant to drink, but the youth simply miss the pithy flavors. I suspect a German whisky with 3-5 years from a sherry keg ... but please do not ask me about the distillery.

On the nose, almond, malt, glue, it's strong, with an acid side.
In the mouth, it stings directly, then woody sensation, green fruits (pear), and a vanilla side, then kernel back with the pastry almond.
In the finish, medium length with malt, almond.
    • Nose
flat nose, ie without great singular content, on malt, glue, a little almond, few fruits !!
      2nd:
malt, woody, quite strong glue with return of the almond a little toasted.

young, spritly, not at all mine ...
    • Nose
Fruity, fresh pears, slightly sprittig - blind I would rather typed on Obstler
    • Taste
Violent onset, on the tongue it tingles tremendously, fruity pears, a little vanilla and surprisingly - slightly smoky
    • Finish
short to medium, not very impressive

    • Nose
Very fruity, on the border to the fruit note, nuts, leather, toffee
    • Taste
In fact slightly smoky, still quite young, fruity, bittersweet, the sherry influence is only hinted noticeable
    • Finish
Behind the nuts come through again

  27. markjedi1 scored this whisky 68 points Connoisseur

The nose and finish were ok and it started well enough on the palate.
But as soon as you get the soapiness on the tastebuds… it’s over. Do not waste
    your money.
    • Nose
I immediately have the feeling I am nosing new make, so rough and young
is the smell. But it also has a truckload of vanilla and some citrus. Mildly
spicy. A bit floral. Some sweet butter in the background. Nothing earth-shattering,
      but not bad either.
    • Taste
It arrives on the palate somewhat creamy. Immediately it is quite hot
with loads of pepper and nutmeg. This is quite sharp, actually. The citrus is
joined by a hint of banana and even some dried peach. But the floral elements
balance between flowers and soap – this is a big no-no. Pity!
    • Finish
The finish is very spicy on all kinds of woodspice, with even a hint of
      smoke. Mercifully short.

Malty nose with a veil of smoke in the background. Mouth malt, vanilla, smoke. Short final. Way.

Armorik Classic Tasted 2014-12-06 @ Torben: Nosing: Slight colorimernote, overall very weak Tasting: Strong oak barrel, then warm coffee and long finish with red fruits (cranberry) - 79

    not my cup of whisky
    SGP:283
    • Nose
Immediately young! Very austere, lemon peel, something like a paint solvent.
Water: crushed aspirin - not in the nice Laphroaig way I am afraid.
    • Taste
Prickly on the tongue. very grassy and austere.
Water: gets better as all the flavours and alcohol get toned down but it is still too grassy for me to enjoy.
    • Finish
      short (thankfully)

  31. kulideli scored this whisky 78 points Expert Junior

    Aroma: Grain, oak, light sweetness, some fruit, with water are still flowery aromas, a hint of vanilla ice cream, milk chocolate, creamy, caramel, biscuits, apple, vanilla, very slight traces of smoke, orange, very slightly iodine (sea) herb , Almonds, traces of perfume;

    Taste: spicy, oak, stronger than the aroma can expect, amazing light smokes, nutty, some metallic youth ?, some sharpness, some dry bitterness, a little bit like a fruit schnapps;

    Finish: with traces of liquorice, quite long, here some sweetness that was not so noticeable before, with cereals and chocolate;
Conclusion: Yes, so the first impression says: not burned on fruit bubbles (like so many non-Scottish / Irish whisky). Warenghem should also have 2 correct stills.

Compared with the EDDU Silver and the Lac'Holl already correct direction single malt. Interesting, something different, but he has too little sweetness for me. PLV so-so.

    Producer`s Note
Nose: Rich and elegant with touches of nuts (hazelnut) and

    toasted bread.
Palate: A fruity attack that gradually reveals its

complexity, with notes of dried fruits and cereals, highlighted by spices.
Finish: Long-lasting spicy and sea breeze notes.

    • Nose
Soft, light aromas of floral ingredients with tones of citrusvurchten
    • Taste
A gentle taste with rich tones of honey and delicate hints of herbs that are exquisitely balanced by oak and fresh notes of citrus
    • Finish
Lichtrokerige finish with delicate tones of grain

  36. mmaclean scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

Armorik is made by Distilleries Warenghem in the Brittany region of

Northern France and you expect something gutsy and rugged. This is

nothing of the sort, though the relatively high strength and the fact

that it`s non-chill filtered ensure plenty of taste, including a

scattering of spices that tickle and tingle the palate at the finish.

Before then, though, the key flavors are vanilla, honeyed cereal,

    overripe melon, and banana.
