  1. Willie JJ scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

This whisky looks beautiful and its great to drink, despite the tiny off note.
    • Nose
A fruit salad of melon, orange segments, grapefruit and kiwi followed by richer meaty, gravy notes, then currants and raisins. Some orange barley water too. Maybe the very faintest trace of sulphur, but not a problem. Maybe also a little smoke.
    • Taste
Rich orange flavoured gravy with the fruity/meaty theme continuing.  A bit of sizzle.
    • Finish
Plenty going on here and its mostly nice, but the sulphur is marginally more assertive.

It's a pity about this closed distillery, which worked almost exclusively for the blend industry. While not all of the casks used here were entirely flawless, the small imperfections add up to the complex and often changing overall picture of flavors. Partly provided with rough charm, this whisky knows how to convince.
    • Nose
Juicy sweet sultanas and dates, jelly bean sweetness, leather, pipe tobacco flavored with cherries, marzipan, oak, cinnamon, kumquats, spiced orange, toasted dark bread, hints of ripe apricots and vineyard peaches, plum compote in a mason jar with remains of the brittle gum
    • Taste
Dates, roasted raisins, figs, ripe plums, dark chocolate with pink peppercorns, demerara, intense aroma of malted barley, black tea, aniseed, spiced orange (with cinnamon, cloves, liquorice), distinct European oak emerges, ginger, the aromas alternate strong back and forth
    • Finish
Tasteful, medium length, strong oak attack, freshly roasted coffee, worn leather, very slightly of bitter orange, dried apple chips, a few crumbs of rolling tobacco, flashes of hot rubber abrasion from time to time, very dark milk chocolate with spices (cinnamon, pepper, coriander), elderberries, blackberries , a hint of vanilla, Brazil nuts, not quite round, but not unpleasant

    Nose:
Honeydew melon, canned peach, baked apple, fruit salad. A little fig and subtle walnut and hazelnut. Milk chocolate.
Everything glazed with honey, honey in which thyme was previously placed.

    Mouth:
Again a lot of fruit, baked apples and some exotic fruits, the chocolate is a bit like dark chocolate, oak becomes noticeable. Rum-grape-nut chocolate.

    Finish:
Long, slightly astringent here, but balanced.

    88/100

    Conclusion:
Very nice, old-school whisky. I really liked the fruit and nut mixture.

So I think the nose is really good. Pretty old school. Unfortunately, he lacks some strength and expressiveness in his mouth. Too bad.
    Still a delicious whisky.
    • Nose
The sherry is nice, but not completely dark fruit. Baked apple filled with nuts and raisins. There is also vanilla sauce. Relatively clear wax notes. Slightly floral notes. Flowerhoney. A little game sauce and cranberries. Tree sap.
    • Taste
Quite gentle in the mouth. Unfortunately, almost too soft. Much less intense than on the nose. Beautiful sweetness paired with the wax. Honeycombs. Rose water. Oranges. Then the oak brings in a bit more bite and it becomes more spicy.
    • Finish
Orange peel. Nuts. Chocolate. Oak wort and it gets drier.

Fruity and zesty, this sherried Imperial expression had the potential to be my favourite of the tasting, on serial dramming however I noticed a tendency for a little eucalyptus oil and menthol to creep into the finish though it wasn't strong enough for me to find it unpleasing.

    • Nose
Orange zest, supple new leather - like at shop ready for crafting, zesty and fruity citrus, jelly babies, lemon, orange, raspberry, strawberry a real fruit mixture - but still refreshing and individually identifiable within that mixture.
    • Taste
Zesty and creamy, orange oil, smooth and creamy vanilla, brown sugar, lemon and orange segments/jelly slices (the kind I associate with Christmas time) grapefruit zest, caramel and toffee, butterscotch and fudge, oak wood
    • Finish
Medium length, zesty fruit mellows into caramel oak and butterscotch

The smell immediately gives me a smile on my face, such classic notes of a sherry whisky reveal itself from the first breath. The whole thing is so prototypical that the smell could serve as a blueprint for a whole genre. This impression continues in the mouth and finish. Someone who likes sherry whisky can not help but like this whisky. The sherry still leaves enough room for the whisky. I especially like that. blind tasting
    • Nose
Classic Oloroso sherry notes, raisins, orange, a hint of cherry, spicy, earthy, black tea
    • Taste
very soft body and velvety appearance, which gives way immediately to a warming spiciness and spiciness, dates and plums, dry sherry, dark chocolate, oak, some filter coffee, unsweetened, slightly sour
    • Finish
The sherry takes over control and only gives way after a while to the oak, which clings dry and bitter on the palate, dry red wine, very dark chocolate, again coffee, espresso this time

Imperial 1993/2011 GM 70cl 43% vol. First fill sherry butt JIS This is finally the joy of my wish come to me Imperial 1993! What is that pleasure? Bring with IPAD and drink at the bar! If you synchronize ATOK Pad with Evernote and take notes while drinking it will be too convenient to save the tasting record in Evernote on your computer after going home. Well ~, already! I wish I had bought an Ipad earlier if it was useful in this way! Great regret in the good meaning! Well, let's say such a thing, this Imperial 1993. Color: You will want to eat jam buns with bully-type signs forever.Nose: Surprisingly strong cinnamon style.Would you like Wiener Kaffee? It will become ... Impossible Imperial, GM etc. making you feel the apple tart! The body which is not okay for the color, we can not forget the intensity of the weakness which makes us forget the trauma of GM's Whisky of some sort of cotton cord sherry butt.Stuffed tart of exquisite synergistic effect with prune port wine boiling, Hast cakes and maple syrup-based taste are sure to be good even at home drinking. If you like this GM, you are going to buy it.This afternoon tea and Orange, Marmalade are comfortably scattered finish! Hit the first cup at the bar when you were exhausted. https://whisky2010.usukeba.com/u/whisky2010/1fyharsdcc6rz3

Very nice fruitiness. The wood becomes stronger towards the end, a little to much for my taste. Also some sulphur in the finish.

  14. granella2003 scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Aromas of canned fruit and golden

caramel opening followed by blackberries, apples and some porridge. On the palette will show

stewed apples and roasted nuts upwards followed by baked apple pie, brown sugar

and a small amount of herbs all in balance. The aftertaste is a nice length

and is dominated by oak wood, hemp and a pleasant spicy bitterness
