  1. lincolnimp scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

This is certainly rich and fruity with some good aspects to the profile but it is too dry for me to get it over 90 points.
There is a nice spice angle that some will love but I fund this a bit thin on the palate

Typical 60s sherries Longmorn. Dark, intense dried fruits like prunes, raisins. Slightly acidic, reminds me of balsamic vinegar. The unstoppable fruit waves just keep punching your nostril. Old leather, artichoke, full blast umami.
    • Taste
      88 88
Dry, chocolate, same fruits as the nose suggested, slightly bitter, most likely from the ultra long aging in first fill sherry cask. More white fruits on the palate which I don’t find it on the nose. Some guava and peaches.
    • Finish
      88 88
Medium dry and long finish with dried fruits, espresso, orange peel.

The nose is the best part on deep sherry, raisins and soy sauce. The palate is too oaky for my tastes but not unpleasant by any means. Still, the oak is holding this whisky back. The finish is dry and salty. Overall this is not bad but would have been better had it been bottled a good number of years earlier.

Strong oak Influence varnish dark fruits , very tannic and spicy, it’s a very good longmorn but some of the longmorns of this era can be truly outstanding

  7. Falnor scored this whisky 91 points Connoisseur

    Old school with a twist
    • Nose
Big complex nose, well above the modern sherry bombs. More herbal than actual sweet. Fallen, half gone leaves and a strange off note from cauliflower.
    • Taste
Old leather, coffee beans, oil and figs, dried up cola paired with cold tea.
    • Finish
This one scores on the nose, follows on the palate but turns drier in the end. Still, the oak of this 44 senior is well behaved.

    Tasting Notes by SCOMA :

Aroma: Initially fresh and herbal notes, fresh mint, some sherry wood influence and a slight sweetness.

Taste: Subtle sweet fudge factors, some heat, cracked black pepper. A subtle burst of vanilla.

    Finish: Long and soft.

  11. PierreDH scored this whisky 87 points Expert Junior

Tasted at the WitC 2011 (Den Haag).
    • Nose
Waxing, wood glue. The sherry in ambush behind. Candied orange.
    • Taste
      Diluted, flat, woody.
    • Finish
Short. On sherry, small round and creamy side. Woody bitterness and nuts.
