Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 18-year-old

  1. MaltMartin scored this whisky 92 points Connoisseur

Classic old Glendronach from the mid 1970's. Tasted at the Super Tasting Sherry Wood Whisky's '60/'70 in February 2020.
    • Nose
Starts with heavy sherry notes intermingled with earthiness. We're still in the Paxarette era. Lots of forrest fruits (black currants, blueberries etc), Christmas cake and roasted nuts. Burnt wood at the background. Mushrooms and cigar boxes as well. It's all quite musty.
    • Taste
Now more on stewed fruits of figs and dates. Cranberries and Plum jam. Raspberries. Hints of shortbread. Also pipe tobacco, raisins and espresso coffee. Dark chocolate. Some sappy oak later on. Faintly peaty.
    • Finish
Long and sweet. Truckloads of nutmeg. Black pepper and a little clove. Currant leaf at the end.
