Well, we sorta know this is gonna be fruity, right?

      Passionfruit, peach, honeycomb, lychee, persimmon

Truckloads of tropical fruits, with a fresh harvest of mangos and passionfruits for sure. Lots of honey. Still quite fresh and not tired at all. There is

A bit of oak at the end, sure, and a slight herbalness. Daikon. The weakest part of the tasting. The prices for 1976 Tomatins have gotten a bit out of control and while they are all pretty damn good, it's certainly not more than $300-400 USD good.

Very well balanced, very drinkable. Great whisky, nothing wrong with it.
    • Nose
Very fruity: tropical. Some subdued sherry notes. And maybe some caramel.
    • Taste
Definitely caramel. Still the tropical fruits. And oranges.
    • Finish
Long, fresh, fruity with some slight darker notes (caramel, dried fruits).

Tasted this gem at the 2nd Whiskybase Gathering in Rotterdam, November 2017.

People told me that 1976 is a somewhat legendary year for Tomatins, so the expectations were quite high. And man, i was not disappointed.

What a perfect dram, in the nose perhaps not so fruity and full as an 81 Lochside, but what a delightful full flavoured body. Thick, slightly oily, passionfruit, chocolates and rosehip jam.

    [October, 2011]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 105 Euro in August, 2011.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 92,5.  My notes state a flawless and perfectly balanced dram that is simply adorable and very dangerously quaffable...
