I did not find out any flavor notes in a 30ml sample of this. It tasted like diluted seawater matured in a dead cask ( without any annoying traits, fortunately). I am questioning the quality of the sample.

Top nose - a dream, on the palate unfortunately weak and a touch too bitter

Very pretty, without defect. Nothing goes beyond it and the pleasure is there. I would have liked a little more character.
    • Nose
Nose powerful enough for the weak degree.
      Many yellow fruits. Apricot. Peach.
Camphor, liquorice, leather. Bay of Genevieve.
      Wood and light dark chocolate.
      A little salt.
    • Taste
On the palate it is quite sweet but less crushed than the 1973 / 30yo tasted in parallel.
We have a lot of fruits. Peach, pineapple, apricot, pear.
      Wood, leather, chocolate always.
      A little black pepper.
    • Finish
Long finish on camphor fruit, wood and liquorice. Very balanced. The taste of dark chocolate remains.

Nose: Beautiful, sweet and old. A touch of cherry. Fresh peach. Soft creamy vanilla. Pear with white pepper. Pink grapefruit. A slight soft putty note. Faint cinnamon. Clean, fresh oak. Just a touch of florals. Soft and beautiful. As you can tell…everything is soft, gentle and barely there. Great integration. Complex and outstanding nose.

Palate: Almost tropical here. A lot of wonderful soft fruits all mixed together. Crunchy underripe pear. Fruit salad. A little more wood showing now. Slightly drying, in fact. A palate built on fruits and woods.

Thoughts: This is a sexy old malt. Unquestionably the best Bruichladdich I’ve ever tried.

As with many whiskies of this age, the nose is by far the best part about this one.
    • Nose
A fabulous nose with intense bourbon notes upfront: Apricot, vanilla, green banana, galia melon, lime, litchi  and a touch of mint. Furthermore orange, butterscotch, almond and oak. Initially a slight whiff of glue from the long maturation, which makes way for beautiful honey later.
    • Taste
Orange, roasted almond, toffee, apricot, pear, barley, litchi, banana, vanilla, nutmeg, dark chocolate and pepper.
    • Finish
Roasted almond, toffee, apricot, orange, pear, cocoa, vanilla, litchi and pepper.
