  1. St. Pauli Plus scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

There was no rush releasing the Hearach, and it has paid off. The distillate seems rather maritime, mossy and fishy, with an oily texture. The cask influence is revealed in notes that bring roundness and texture this dram: vanilla, almond and spice.

Within the segment of peated whiskies I would characterise the Hearach as mildly peated, yet oily, maritime and traditional with distinct spice.
    • Nose
Moderately peaty, with a mossy, fishy and briny character. Some good old kipper, sea shells, sphagnum moss. A hint of vanilla and orange blossom and orange zest, almond. Maybe some cooked fruit.
    • Taste
Oily, with good punch from the 46%. There is peat, mackerel, anchovies, olive oil, again a bit mossy and briny. It has roundness of malt, marzipan and a bit of vanilla cream which brings balance. The fruit is rather orange driven. Finally there is spice from gentian root and pepper. Quite nice.
    • Finish
Lingering on olive oil, anchovies in oil, moss, gentian root, marzipan and mixed cooked fruit.
