Two Ravens / Two Ravens The Benedictine monk Meinrad is said to have built a hermitage and a chapel in the woods behind the Etzel in the year 835, at the place where today Einsiedeln Abbey rises, to serve God in solitude. According to legend, Meinrad was slain on January 21, 861 by two robbers. Then two tame ravens are said to have persecuted the murderers to Zurich, where they were sentenced to death by the court. In the coat of arms of Einsiedeln Meinrad ravens are shown.
