On the one hand, this is a very tasty sherry malt from the Emerald Isle, but I would have preferred Oloroso more than PX. What bothers me is that it seemed very unbalanced to me. It took a long time for the Sherry character to emerge and for the "high" price it didn't really appeal to me.
If you're Irish and of legal age, then you'd rather go naked from the Bourbon Barrel.
Somewhat strange smell. A roller coaster ride, because at the beginning it seems quite winey and bitter to me. Then again quite cool and restrained, followed by a dry nuttiness that made me think it was Oloroso. Sweet berries only release late and I can understand the comparison with syrup.
The taste is clearly more present right from the start and the aromas are clearer. Here too, the style is rather dry, with nuts, dates, Goia berries and cherries. The alcohol is oppressive, but is otherwise well integrated.
Long finish and it gets surprisingly chocolaty.
