This is really nice, not tired after 49 years maturation and then 10 years in a bottle and only 40%

    Wow!

    A stunner in my view.
    • Nose
The heavy sherry is obviously here but there are also some meat notes that remind me of Bovril?

Rich blackcurrant, plain chocolate, hint of marzipan, ripe dark plum skin and date,
    • Taste
More potent than the usual 40%, plum, fig, hint of apple juice, blackberry jam and some . oakiness but that is expected at this age.

Starts to get dry after a while on wafer and chocolate and the blackcurrant sweetness remains.

      finally some creamy caramel.
    • Finish
Longer than I was expecting and the dryness seems to disappear replaced by a really nice fruity sherry.

    • Nose
Dark fruits, blueberry, grapefruits, old 50s Speyside sherry style, classic!
    • Taste
Very sour, sweet sherry, a bit watery, mints, a bit woody.
    • Finish
      Sweet dates, dried dates.

Fantastic Grant, I just love how Grant it always does not matter how much age it manages to stay fruity, this apple always, mhhh ....
    • Nose
First pure chocolate sauce, fine cocoa, oiled leather, after a while the typical Glen Grant aroma, wonderful red and fresh apple despite the age, grapefruit, nutmeg, cinnamon and figs, fresh raisins, rum raisins, incense sticks, roiboos, rose water, macadamia nuts, butter biscuits , Cherries, old leather box
    • Taste
Dark caramel sauce, plum jam, sweet tobacco, cherry juice, apple juice, baked apple, cinnamon, camphor, nutmeg, cardamom, fennel, rosemary, blood orange, black cherry, sweet licorice and fine tannins
    • Finish
Long, still fruity full, dry instead of age, chocolate, cinnamon, apple with peel, figs

    This whisky is like me

At 49 years old you cannot rush it but give it time, allow it to breath and you are rewarded with something special. (that's what I kid myself with anyway) :)

I visited Glen Grant a few days ago, this whisky is the same age as me, I am in the heart of Speyside as I drink this, great stuff.

A stunner of a sherried whisky and only 40%?
