Nose: Wood, grassy, some sherry and hint of yeast. With water: Doesn't affect the smell much.

Taste: Mildly bitter, some bitteroranges. Sweet oak, some vanilla (sure this was an sherry only?) With water: Everything still there, but more gentle.

    Body: Full and oily

Finish: a bit dry-ish. Medium length. some oak and toffee pops up. Hint of sherry.

Price: Current price on WB is 126,- euro's Which is way to much, don't know about the original price.

Presentation: Don't know this was a sample.

The nose gets even fruitier and the whisky is very hazy colour wise.

I think the palate suffers slightly but the profile is the same and still very drinkable.

    A very good, young Balblair.
    • Nose
Very nice sherry mixed in with black currant and caramel shortbread.

      There are other fruit notes
    • Taste
Powerful attack but not overpowering  on caramel again, fruity fizzy sweetness on pear and a little apple
    • Finish
Quite long and stays sweet to the end.

Non-chillfiltered without a doubt! I've never seen a whisky turn so cloudy with a drop of water.
Blind tasting of a small sample.
    • Nose
Sherry, raspberry, apple, tea, oaky spice and sulphur.
    • Taste
A lot of currants. Also raspberry, liquorice, orange, almond, grapes and spice. Light smoke (not peat) and sulphur. With water more liquorice.
    • Finish
Currants, sherry, liquorice, blueberries and smoke.

  6. St. Pauli scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Delicate match between this highland whisky and the sherry cask. I use it in my homemade vanilla-whisky ice (of course with real vanilla...)
    • Nose
Delicate! Barley, wax, sherry, honey, raisins, cooked plum
    • Taste
Round with a small bitter accent, sugared and waxed barley, sherry, fruit
    • Finish
Medium, rather dry, leaving the structure of wax and sherry still standing!
