Extremely fruity and mild, plus the gentle and old character. Emergence of sharpness ensures powerful moments and that certain something. I like this old tomato very much, above all it tastes very good!

    • Nose
Light caramel rests in the glass, on the glass wall of my Premium Snifter thick and syrupy "legs" run their way. Extreme fruit rises from the glass, mango, pineapple and other tropical fruits mix with local fruits such as apricots, pears and mirabelle plums. Hints of grapefruit and lemons dissolve from creamy wood tones, sugar mixes with a hint of milk chocolate and a few drops of honey.
    • Taste
Tomatin flows sweetly and mildly through the mouth. Slightly caramelized sugar mixes with a few grains of salt and ripe yellow fruit, subtle wooden spiciness tickles between the lips, creamy raisins and forest honey emerge. Creamy toffee and whole milk chocolate open the second sip before wood sharpness sets in relatively quickly. Suddenly the subtle sharpness intensifies, white pepper and a hint of chili heat up the tongue, plump warmth pervades the palate, dry wood tones stick between the tongue and the palate. Slightly sour citrus fruits appear, menthol freshness ends in hazelnuts and creamy wood tones.
    • Finish
Toffee and wood stick creamy on the palate, sweet fruit moments stimulate the saliva even in the aftertaste, the aftertaste is voluminous but also relatively short.

    • Nose
How can a 30 year matured whisky be so extremely fruity? A flood of exotic fruits rises from my glass: mango, passion fruit, honey melon, coconut, pineapple, juicy tangerines and a hint of unripe strawberries provide a wonderful freshness. Slightly sour fruit notes (pomegranate, citrus fruits) contrast very well with the sweet, exotic fruits. In the background linger a pleasant oak flavor.
    • Taste
Strong start with a noticeable prickle on the tip of the tongue. The Pfeffrigkeit gives way very fast to the sweet, tropical fruits. Very oily, even silky soft, is the pleasant mouthfeel. Salivation is also strongly stimulated. Mango, passion fruit, pineapple and tangerines quickly take over the flavor of the upper hand. Sweet cake, honey, vanilla and caramel underline the sweet foundation. A light nutritiousness and the first spicy oak wood notes complete the overall picture. The alcohol content of 46% is perfectly integrated and ensures an intense aroma transport. Dangerously tasty, especially in the summer.
    • Finish
Medium to long. The exotic fruits can put a final exclamation point. A fine Nussigkeit, cloves, leather, tobacco leaves and oak spice are in the foreground. It gets a little drier with a subtle bitterness.

    Asked around @ Tomatin:

The first of these 30yo @ 46% was the one from 2011. Which had an outturn of 1200 bottles. There is also a new batch from 2012 (this time 1500 bottles). It scores 91 Points. According to Tomatin, the 2011 version was drier, I would say the 2012 is even more fruity. Check the code printed on the base of the bottle which one you have.

A thoroughbred whisky, restrained, all elements are perfectly adjusted. Great to drink. Tropically fruity in aroma. The aroma picks up over time and plays great. Hardly as tasty as me.

Mineral, long lasting, restrained, again closer to brackish, honey on honeycombs, tropical fruit background, toffee, pepper.

Really delicious malt. I like these yellow fruits paired with the sharpness / acidity. Really something.
    • Nose
Boy! He is fruity. But everything goes more into the yellowish / exotic. Khaki. Physalis. Mango. Apricot jam. Sea buckthorn honey sweet. Orange peel. Some furniture polish. Dry, warm wood.
    • Taste
First nice sweetie. Acacia honey. In the mouth, he is no longer so extremely fruity. But still a lot of yellow fruits (see smell). Tree resin. But then a neat and surprising sharpness sets in. Ginger. In addition, some acid. Haribo sour chips.
    • Finish
The sharpness and the acid gradually fade away. Suggestion, the fruits are still there. Citrus liquor Tonic Water. Some carnation. oak spice

[November, 2015]  I had this dram during an "30+ years" tasting at Bonn.In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50
    - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90.  Unfortunately I took no detailed notes.
