  1. KayMeertens scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    Blind tasting of a sample.
    • Nose
Straw, peat, fig, yellow raisin, lime, malt, vanilla cake and washing-up liquid. Water makes more citrus and orange come up. And makes it turn white like pastis by the way.
    • Taste
Orange, straw, peat, pepper, chocolate and a farmy touch.
    • Finish
      Peat, gingerbread, malt and pepper.

  2. MaltMartin scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Blind sample by Alexander. Couldn't believe it was Benromach....
    • Nose
Smoke. Burnt wood. Seems young with a lot of sea shore aroma's of iodine. Later on more grassy notes. Citrus fruit at the background.
    • Taste
More punchy than the nose suggest. Must be the alcohol. Peaty and tarry. A touch of seaweed. Lemon and lime. Oyster shells and kelp.
    • Finish
Long and dry. Lots of pepper developing into salty notes. A peat monster with complexity.

you can surprise anyone with this, it is heavily peated and can compete with a young Islay whisky

nose: iodine, peat, dry sausages with cloves (drentse/groninger worst), oil and sweet notes

taste: hot, very hot, sweet and peated with fruity notes.

overall: very nice Islay whisky from Benromach  86p

strange: add water and it becomes milky/cloudy

    sample available on: whiskysample.nl
