I have never tasted the OB at 15 years of age but this 16 years I like a lot. The notes of fruit, chocolate and sugar are to my taste. A very good single malt! The weak point: alcohol a little poorly integrated nose and mouth. The highlight: everything else! Longmorn knows how to distil a whisky!
    • Nose
Very sweet, very fruity (oranges, apricots, mandarins ...) sweet, hints of honey, vanilla, a little chocolate. The alcohol comes out a little at the beginning.
    • Taste
Always fruity, always sweet, honey, vanilla, spices, cinnamon. At first glance rather aggressive, impression that alcohol is not very well integrated. Then, more sweetness and a little bitterness in the background (marzipan? Almond? Dark chocolate!). Very round and creamy on the palate.
    • Finish
A bit bitter but sweet. Fruity, very sweet, spicy. Notes of chocolates, honey, vanilla.

Pretty nice but too much fresh wood. Many spicy notes. A bit dry yet a lot of vanilla.

Delicious, with a rich golden color.
Has a not too heavy taste, delicious creamy

with lots of aromas of fruit, jams, sweet spices and fine

    flavors of fudge.
    The fragrance is delicious typical

fruity with many tones of overripe apples, ripe cherries and strawberries,

    followed by creamy aromas, spicy

with notes of honey, vanilla and toffee.

  9. Jean-Brice scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Very well done and very accessible.
    • Nose
Very fruity (yellow fruits). Candied fruits. Almond. Vegetable touches.
    • Taste
Powerful but in the continuity of the nose. Round.
    • Finish
      Very long.

I have a very pleasant impression on this whisky, there is nothing like it, it's not a bottle that would attack you with a bombastic thing, yet it has something in it, and from the aristocratic, some kind of smoothness, purity, sophistication that will gradually conquer you. Longmorn 16y is like a true relaxation, it is absolutely cool and pleasant.
    • Nose
Sweet, malt, butter biscuits, occasionally a hint of green apple emerges, like honey, some vanilla and even chocolate sour cherries. Everything is decent, pleasant, not very distinctive, but smooth and harmonious. Personally, I prefer a stronger scent, but I can not object to this. Satisfaction with the first impression.
    • Taste
What you imagined when you get caught will get you in taste and something else. This is a mature, full and rich whisky. First impressions have swallowed, then goes to spice, you notice the flavors left by the barrel. Sweet spice, black currant, a bit of malt.
    • Finish
Pleasant, very long-lasting flavor in a spice-like impression. Great job.

Excellent! This batch is a worthy successor to the 15yo (although I still think its overpriced).
    • Nose
Malt, honey, vanilla, tangerines sugared almonds and absolutely clean as a whistle. Phew!
    • Taste
An orange barley sugar. Massively mouth-watering and chewy.
    • Finish
A riot of sugar, fruit and spice that goes on for ages.

  14. hsmithjr scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    Very nice, but rather pricey.
    • Nose
Fresh and fruity.  Green apples.  Orange blossoms.  Oak.
    • Taste
Herbal.  Lemon chess pie.  Spicy.  Cookies.  More oak.
    • Finish
Medium in length.  Dry and oaky.

  15. Feusi scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

Sweet and tangy on the nose, spicy with strong coffee and toffee flavors delicately nutty smoky background. A well balanced premium whisky.

  16. PierreDH scored this whisky 85 points Expert Junior

A very nice nose, the mouth is hard to follow and the final is pleasant.
The 48% are too much in the mouth and nose, the addition of a little water would do him the greatest good.
    • Nose
Fruity with very sweet apple, juicy pineapple and a little strawberry. Praline. Slightly vanilla. Trace of dry wood. Discreet dry, the whole thing is a little more fun once it's been soaked :)
    • Taste
Tingling sensation on the tongue, ripe fruit but very (too) discreet.
    • Finish
Long. Bitterness, brought by aromas of mocha and dark chocolate.
With added water, a nice fruity boost after a few seconds and a slightly sweet finish.
