Whisky Reviews for Longmorn 1967 Sc

[April, 2018]  I had this dram during the charity tasting at Limburg Whisky Fair.

The colour is yellow gold and the texture shows a small sticky ring that builds some fat sticky tears after a while with very slow legs (wow, what a great oiliness!).  The nose is rather punchy and shy at the first sniff so I let it breathe for some minutes.  After that it offers a subtle and delicate autumn floral profile with fine herbs, spices and some fruits in the background.  Delicious but not very bold (what is not bad, except for the "oompf"-seekers).  The whisky arrives warming and coating on the palate with a minor adstringment moment from the tannins.  The taste is delicate again on lots of different flavours that pop up in several waves.  All nicely balanced and dangerously quaffable.  The finish is long and without any distracting feelings except this slight adstringent note from the tannins (that is still okay, no problem with it).  It gets very sweet at the end with great flavours of milk chocolate.  Some water opens up the nose but I like the taste and finish of the neat dram better.

This is a very delicate and subtle Longmorn that perfectly suits to a warm spring evening.  A fine dram to sip and relax...

Honey, citrus, herbs, stone fruits, oak, quite nice

Hs305 has written great notes on this dram. I totally agree with the notes and feelings, except for a higher score in my system. ( I sensed more fruit btw)

btw2, it is a bourbon cask longmorn in my knowledge. I don't know why someone wrote a note mentioning "sherry".

  4. Dram Dracula did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

No one wanted these older Scott's Longmorns when they were just sitting on the shelves of many US retailers, but over the past few years, these bottlings have become quite sought after. I purchased mine at 420USD on the secondary market. It was probably around 200 or even less when it first came out. Here's a terrific review by MAO (he also has reviewed of a few of the other Scott's Longmorns):

    http://kaypingers-whiskyblog.de/frontend/fullarticle.php?id=192 Color: gold
Nose: Yogurt with fresh lime and a hint of vanilla, soft lemon juice, cream, caramel, beeswax, olive oil, leather and paper. A fine, salty spice tingles in the nose and develops more aromas of cucumber, dill and salty cream. All the same quality.
Taste: Strong salty and powerful start with the notes from the nose. Very straightforward with notes of fresh wood (sawn boards).
Finish: Long - dry with notes of lime, fennel, tingling grapefruit, some white pepper and honey. Dry-fresh fading away.
Note: The nose could also belong to a Clynelish from the 1980s.
    92 points (nose: 93 / taste: 92 / finish: 91)
