This is only my third Longrow so far, but they were all pleasant so far.
Again a big thanks to Jan VC for the sample.
The first whiff that hits me on the nose is one of manure. Next to that,
some goat cheese. Sounds appalling? It is quite nice though. Pretty smoky and
not very sweet at all. Do I smell some heather? A lot of moss, as well. A pinch
of salt and some overripe yellow apples.
On the palate, it becomes a whole lot sweeter. Some white fruit and
honey. Bourbon cask, I think. The spices seem to confirm this. Vanilla, white
pepper, ginger. Toffee, too. Nice peat, without becoming dominant. Quite a bit
of brine towards the end. A touch of oak.
The finish, as far as I am concerned medium in length, is smoky and
sweet, but it dies a salty death.
