  1. Fugger84 scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

Nice smoke and round in finish for its age

There are rumors that it could be a Teespnoed Ardbeg

a few notes based on a cask sample just before bottling.

The alcohol is already really well integrated in the nose.
Nothing stings, you only notice a very slight menthol freshness.
As already suspected, the smoke from the glass looks completely different. It's clear, but doesn't cover everything. And you don't know at least immediately no Caol Ila, Staoisha or Laphi and of course Islay.

The fruit is clear with the citrus fruits, where he charges, sometimes lighter in the direction of lemon/lime but then again in the direction of orange, some raisins.
Pleasant sweetness and behind the smoke there is also some vanilla.

Over time, the fruit recedes a little on the nose, more vanilla/fudge, the fruit a little more in the direction of tangerine, but also some nuttiness (walnut).

This is then also found on the palate. Seems a bit tart there, a little coffee, a slightly tart note of walnut, but the fruits are more subtle there too. The smoke obviously clear.

Offers a nice complexity at the point.

A completely different style than eg the Staoisha 3y PX = jester.
This one is more serious, I really like it for its age.

For me, it doesn't really need much more from the sherry cask that doesn't cover and leaves a lot of room for the actual distillate.

Medium intensity in the aftertaste but long lasting.
Also in the nose, by the way, where I still somehow perceive the association with the whiskey a long time later.

A successful special anniversary release for the 3rd anniversary of The Caskhound dear Tilo.
