  1. LeChiffre scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

Typical wet barrel finish (but one of the better ones). As is so often the case, it works, it is a delicious, drinkable drinking whisky without rough edges. But not particularly exciting and absolutely interchangeable. This distillery doesn't matter here.

dark fruity sweet; red berry fruits; plums; Caramel; delicate nutty notes; spicy; tender oak
      - typical modern sherry finish, tasty but nothing special and interchangeable

Benrinnes from a charged seasoned sherry cask. Reminiscent of earlier Signatory bottlings, just a little more expensive. Unfortunately, it falls off a bit in taste.
    • Nose

Fruity and spicy nose, almonds, some cherries, dark notes of sherry. Takes some time in the glass, but then becomes very enjoyable.
    • Taste
      83 83
Sweet start, but the spicy notes quickly outweigh the more and more bitter parts.
    • Finish
      85 85
In the finish, the bitter notes decrease more and more and a very nice sherry note remains.

Fruity mixture of sour cherries, currants and cola powder - slightly acidic but pleasantly mild fruit cocktail - very tasty! medium long finish

definitely give it enough time in the glass; the aromas are rather delayed after it seemed very closed at first.
At first I thought of a PX, but after a while you realize that it's more of an Oloroso, although this one is quite sweet.
The flavors on the nose are really fun if you're into sherry-driven malts that bring some sweetness without being PX sticky.
Not quite as sweet in taste, but great Oloroso taste; it's pretty heavily charged - there's not much left of the starting distillate.
If you like sherry malts, you're welcome.
[86 - 82 = good whisky -> get (second) bottle? Maybe...] For 50 / max. 55 euros I would actually buy a whole bottle; beyond 60 euros.... nope, it doesn't have to be, the sample is enough for me.

heavy, dark aromas (initially seems like an extremely charged sherry malt from a rather "wet" cask).
Sweet aromas, honey, caramel, fudge. Dark fruits of raisins, plums, dates, figs; Nut nougat stays in the background at first, but then becomes clearer over time.
The honey turns into blossom honey, which is then also quite sweet. Leather polish, "rustic oak wall unit", cedar wood, sherry seasoning, but everything looks fresh and not "dusty, old books, etc.", as is often the case with Oloroso.
    • Taste
      86 86
      Spicy, creamy-oily mouthfeel, slight tingling on the tongue, more spiciness, but then dark fruits are also quickly noticeable, especially raisins, dates and figs. The cutie is holding back a little more here;
the drier type of Oloroso comes into its own, it becomes drier, also brings an oak note from the sherry, slightly tart at the end (coffee powder).
2nd Sip: fruitier, then spiciness again, nice Oloroso, honey, sweetness of caramel, again slightly tart moments, but not too exaggerated.
    • Finish
      84 84
Oak tannins, sherry spiciness, remains fruity, appears drier; overall lasts for a medium to long time; especially the tart wood note and the sherry spices last a long time.
With a significant delay, well-ripened hazelnuts come to the fore.
