9 users have left 9 reviews for this whisky. Average rating is 87.10 points.

  1. LeChiffre scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Takes time and water. Modern tasty sherry cask maturation albeit without the certain something. That's not wrong in principle, but I'm not willing to pay 170 euros for it. And whether it's a Macallan or not doesn't really matter here.
    • Nose
alcoholic without water; modern sherry cask maturation; dark fruits; Caramel; some nutty notes; dark chocolate; lots of spicy wood notes present
      - modern clean sherry malt
    • Taste
voluminous mouthfeel; dark fruits; plums; raisins; dark chocolate; spice notes; some pepper; wood seasoning
    • Finish
sparkling-spicy; delicate dark fruit; dark chocolate; spice notes; spicy oak without bitterness

initial price around 154 Euros in 02/2023

in one german online shop, Macallan was explicitely mentioned.
But could be as well Mannochmore, Miltonduff and Mortlach (DRU = Edringtion Group)

  7. Baanaanaabob scored this whisky 87 points Connoisseur

Nuts, dark fruits, dark chocolate, pepper, more oak and astringency than cask #2 but without the sulphur, a quite basic sherry bomb but I like this one a bit more

  8. Sport scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

4cl sample, tasted on two different days

very powerful with full abv. for me too powerful to enjoy it neat.
best around 48%abv and one hour breathing time in the glencairn glass.
clean and fresh oloroso cask. fruity, burned caramel and the some nutty and peppery notes. oaky finish with some dark chocolate without any bitterness. overall very balanced, i really like it.
could have stayed some more years in the casks for more complexity.

this bottle will be opened for a special occasion.

  9. Feivell scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Expected a lot, got little. A decent standard sipper. No more and no less.

Ordinary new modern sherry profile. Maybe tasting him against an 18 Mac out of 85 was a mistake.

Tip: A few drops of water help to tease out a little more flavor.

Fortunately they did not made a big secret out of it, that we have a Macallan cask here.
It’s quite similar to the BBR Secret Speyside, which had an even higher ABV. Water is highly recommended and works very well with this one. I found everything we love as Macallan Sherry Cask profile here. Nothing to complain, but nothing for beginners.
